McDonald's is going to introduce Mac Jr incase you want your child to be obese and Grand Mac so that parents do not miss this opportunity to get obese and have wonderful diseases later like diabetes, heart disease, respiratory problems and so on.

It's sad, the big mac was already filled with disgusting fat and grease...I quit McDonalds back in June and haven't eaten it since. One of those "grand macs" would be more than half of your daily intake.

A burger doesn't make you obese. Your diet and lifestyle choices overall do that. Why is it that personal responsibility is shunned and we opt for scapegoats?

I find one of the main causes for obesity is lack of self control.

A big mac is 563 calories. Unless you're an anorexic female, it's not half your intake.

A smaller big mac, oh the horror...

It's not McDonald's fault if people don't maintain a healthy, balanced diet. They're a business, providing the service of fast food. If people didn't want it, they wouldn't buy it, and McDonald's wouldn't be in business. Clearly people want it.

Yeah fair enough, but McDonald's aren't stupid. This is aimed at the Americans because the majority eat so much.

I wonder if they will roll these out anywhere else? I doubt it, but we'll see.

Spot on and doubly so when it's kids who are the parents' responsibility.

This is fine as part of a balanced diet and lifestyle. It won't make you obese.

just because they introduce a bigger burger they are not at fault for people being obese. Its all down to personal choice. Every time a new wine or beer is brought out it doesn't mean that they are making people alcoholics.

I'm not a regular at my local McDonald's, I do however like the taste of the Big Mac every few years. The BIG daddy mac looks like a gut-buster!

Just a shame the kids will be eating mac Jr's until they turn 21.

No one's forcing them to buy it and stuff their faces with this crap. Everything in moderation and in most cases it does no harm. Unfortunately people are always looking for someone to blame when the problem is almost always down to themselves having no self control.

I don't care about the food, it's **** and I don't eat it. But I hate McDonald's the company and how it treats it's employees, plus how it is just everywhere like a disease.

Even in England, 25% of adults are obese with ~60% being overweight - clearly we're a prime example

is that pic not the same burger except they are just getting closer?

agree about it being horrible but used as a treat anything bad for you can be part of a healthy diet.

They also serve Egg Mcmuffins all day too. But they're vile.

Definitely missed a trick not calling it the lil mac (_;)

I prefer Wendy's where they ask you how many burgers you'd like on your bun. I gave 3 a go last time. Not sure I'd manage a 4th.

Their marketing team need firing.

I stopped going to Mcadonalds a few years ago after I noticed the lack of hygiene of the staff. After working as a chef in Alder Hey Hospital I now notice the hygiene (or lack of) in restaurants I visit.

People eating there may have an excuse, but staff members have none when it comes to hygiene.

Ah, reminds me, I was watching a programme once about some benefits garbage on channel 4. A guy who worked in McDonald's actually slept rough. Fair enough they fired him but it wasn't nice to think this guy was handling peoples food.

Exactly and the problems go far beyond McDonalds or fast food in general.

It's laziness, it's lack of knowledge of food preparation but mostly I think it comes down to a lack of self-respect and personal responsibility. Those are huge things to tackle.

Yeap - totally obscene how binge-drinking on a regular basis is generally seen as acceptable as well, especially through university years.

If US citizens eat enough burgers they will be able to roll anywhere.

Burger King's Spicy bean burger beats anything sold by McDonald's Restaurants anyway.

if McDonalds didnt sell bad food then there are literally 1,000s of other big food retailers in US to buy unhealthy food from.

This is making me want a big Mac. Might have to call at the drive through on the way home...

Is that 25% of adults visiting medical practitioners in England, & 60% of that 25% being overweight, or 60% of those weighed by a medical professional in England (that took part in the survey of meaningless statistics)?

Those that are overweight may well be ill, or need to seek medical advice, more often &, hence, those that visit their Doctor/Medical Centre are going to be tipping the scales in the wrong direction.

True, McDonald's are targeting their audience.

I find in today's age people just love blaming others for their own faults.

Anyone care to tot up the calories in a chicken tikka masala , keema pilau and a garlic nan from a takeaway . Will make a Big Mac look like diet food .

The main problem in America is it's the norm' with regards to obesity and eating habits - earlier today on Liveleak there was a 12min video of some traffic queues to a new Popeyes or similar that's just opened. Also go watch some of those American college uploads and play a simple game of "Spot the skinny kid"

looks like a cheeseburger with added veg - result!
