Memory on computer full. Need more. Help! Need Advice

Computer memory is full. Need to download more photos but unable to do so.

My partner says we will need to order computer with a bigger memory but that seems expensive.

Does anyone know of anything we can buy that will work out cheaper to store photos on?

I have them backed up onto disks but need them stored on the computer, etc as well.

Or, does anyone recommend a website that we can pay to store downloaded photos on. Dont really want to go down this route but it may work out cheaper than buying a new compter with a bigger memory.

external hard drive - dead cheap nowadays as well

If you have a USB port, you could invest in an external hard drive to save your photographs on, such as this one:

Yup, an external drive is the easiest (and cheapest) way for you to not only store your photos, but to store any music, videos, etc. too. If you get one big enough (don't know how big the hard drive is on your PC) but you may even be able to use a back-up facility to regularly back-up your whole hard drive so you can reinstall in the event of anything going catastrophically wrong with the hard drive inside the tower.

Have a look at Amazon (as suggested by Rayman) and play.com, ebuyer, etc. and see the cheapest you can get a 500GB external drive, you'll end up having a faster PC too when you get all that stuff over onto it too. If you need any more advice then sure there'll be plenty of us around at help!

i gt an external harddrive for my laptop. well worth the money hun for pics and movies and stuff.

    Agree on all the above!
I have a external hard drive which is for backing up all the important stuff like photo's music etc... This has been a godsend.

Iomega 500GB from Staples £69.99. They also do 320GB models for about £55.

One thing though, make SURE that your PC has USB2 or all external drives will be useless due to the low speed of USB1 ;-)

Don't rule out upgrading the internal hard disk or adding a second one. It is not easy to give advice without knowing what equipment you have but details instructions are available online.

What are the specs on your old PC? (CPU, HDD size, RAM ect)

As far as external HDD i've had my eye on either a Western Digital Mybook 2 or a Seagate FreeAgent for a while now.
