ive put it off for so long cos i fear being told the worst in which case i would rather not know, but if i am told its nothing to worry about then i can relax, argh.....

Awww sweetie, we all get the cramps from time to time but if you are getting it without any rest from it I would certainly go docs and see if they can make an app for you at the hospital prolly just to have a little look around and make sure theres nothing causing the cramps, just so they can rule out things like cysts and endometriosis, PCOS etc.

Not to sound too personal, you dont have to post up responses, but consider if your periods are regular in length and heaviness and the time inbetween them is pretty much the same.

Be brave. Go get it checked out and put your mind at rest

It may all be just stress you know but get it checked just to make sure x x

thanks. i really do need to put my mind at rest i think. will make app first thing in the morn.

Regular exercise has been demonstrated to reduce the frequency and severity of menstrual cramps, probably through the release of internal beta-endorphins.

Hey. I used to suffer similar problems. Turned out I had Endometriosis but it could be many things, most of which could be easily treated. Think you should go and see your doc - I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

Was just going to suggest Endometriosis, my friend suffered with that, its not the easiest thing to diagnose so might be worth mentioning it to your GP.

it could be many things or nothing.. if you start reading up on conditions you'll start imagining you have everything and get too scared to go lol

thankyou all for replying. its been nice to finally get it off my chest. gonna make a hot water bottle now to try ease the pain abit and will make app. asap. x

best thing to do is make a note of all the problems, eg how long it has been going on for, when it starts, for how long has it been getting worse, anything that makes it worse, anything that makes it better etc, then a list of questions.

Book into the Dr's ask for a longer than 6 minute appointment as I think being able to give a good history and allowing the Dr to undetake an examination, will hopefully mean that you will get an idea of what is the problem and hopefully you will be put in the right direction to help dealing with the matter.

Sometimes worrying about things makes them twice as bad!!, so book in and let the NHS start looking after you!!!

all the best, remember there is plenty of people to get good advice and support from, your not on your own.

short term the hot water bottle is good, also ibuprofen (if you can take it) make sure if you do to take it with some food to reduce chances of stomach irritation.

I had some discomfort last year,I went to GP got referred to consultant. Consultant said based on my age and that I had 2 children already plus 1 miscarriage the year before I probably didn't have that endrometresis thingy, which is where the lining of the wombs grows elsewhere like on the fallopian tubes etc.
They did find a cyst on ovary when I was having scans done cos of miscarriage and I reckon the few weeks of comfort I had later on the following year was maybe something to do with cyst. Anyway I was referred for ultrascan and the cyst wasn't present and nothing else.
Consultant said as we wanting to try for another,it would be best to leave things if I wanted,or they could examine further, that would rule out the endrometresis. He was certain that I didn't have that,he said women come to see him in their 30's,they not got children, either tried or haven't tried and they find they suffering with that. Of course this isn't always the case.
As I said I was only uncomfortable for a few wks hence I got checked out by GP and then reffered, took about 3- 4 wks to be seen by consultant.

I was really bad for about 2 years almost whole way through the month, didn't want to see docs. Got there in end, they took IUD out and cleared up straight away. Always worth going rather than putting it off, I've learnt that one now!

I think why a lot of women put put off also,is they don't want to be examined, and incase they also get a male consultant.

this is sick

i think thats part of my problem too. i dont want to be examined. i put off having my smear done for about 4 years! people kept telling me its nothing............. liars! it wasnt pleasant at all.

Sound silly but it could be constipation. Pains very similar to contractions. Even if you are going to the toilet regular you can still be constipated as some just passes around the blockage yuck. The pain seems to be more on the left and does not go regardless of how you lay.
Go to the Doctor and be checked.

Some smears I've had have been painful, others, I wouldn't do it for pleasure but it's not hurt at least.

It isn't pleasant being examined like that. I try to count myself down from 20 in my head so I dont think of it while it's happening.

Putting it off might be dangerous though...you'd kick yourself if it was something that could be righted if they caught it fast enough and you didn't go just cos of the examination.

Get a friend to come along with you if you like, she can wait outside while they actually do it but then you can go for a nice drink or something afterwards x x

Yeh I understand,I have heard it a lot from friends.
It shouldn't be uncomfortable at all so maybe nurse been a bit rough. It's all about being relaxed,if you nervous, then the muscles down there do tense up.
Yeh was going mention if you uptodate, meant to have 1 done every 3years.

Me too, I had the same and many other symptoms over time. you need to be brave and go see the doc and I am sure they will be able to help, but don't get fobbed off, if your still suffering ask for a referral to see a gyno.
