Do you think they ever throw stones?

The proverb has been traced back to Geoffrey Chaucer's 'Troilus and Criseyde' (1385). George Herbert wrote in 1651: 'Whose house is of glass, must not throw stones at another.' This saying is first cited in the United States in 'William & Mary College Quarterly' (1710). Twenty-six later Benjamin Franklin wrote, 'Don't throw stones at your neighbors', if your own windows are glass.' 'To live in a glass house' is used as a figure of speech referring to vulnerability." From "Random House Dictionary of Popular Proverbs and Sayings" (1996) by Gregory Y. Titelman (Random House, New York, 1996).Who that hath an hed of verre, Fro cast of stones war hym in the werre! (Chaucer, "Troilus & Criseyde," c1385)Whose house is of glasse, must not throw stones at another. (G. Herbert, "Outlandish Proverbs," 1640)Ay cousen, no body should thrown stones, whose house is made of glass. (C. Shadwell, "Sham Prince," 1720)Thee shouldst not throw Stone, who hast a Head of Glass thyself. (J. Shebbeare, "Marriage Act," 1754)He who lives in a glass house, says a Spanish proverb, should never begin throwing stones. (T. Paine in "Pennsylvania Packet," October 22, 1778)Those who live in glass houses shouldn't stones. (Trollope, "Framley Parsonage," 1861)

All these people have gone down in history saying not to!!! Seems like quite a hot topic - so I hope to goodness they listen !!

"Then I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down."

Seriously, I could not live there, I'd be constantly thinking something was about to fall down! :w00t:

how about this one? Ryugyong Hotel, in Pyongyang. Building started in 1987, and apparently cost 2% GDP of the country. The construction was abandoned.

(from wikipedia)
The Ryugyong Hotel (Korean: 류경호텔)(or Ryu-Gyong Hotel or Yu-Kyung Hotel or the 105 Building) is an unfinished concrete skyscraper. It is intended for use as a hotel in Sojang-dong, in the Potong-gang District of Pyongyang, North Korea. The hotel's name comes from one of the historic names for Pyongyang: Ryugyong, or "capital of willows." Its 105 stories rise to a height of 330 m (1,083 ft), and it contains 360,000 m² (3.9 million square feet) of floor space, making it the most prominent feature of the city’s skyline and by far the largest structure in the country. Construction started in 1987 and ceased in 1992 due to financial difficulties. At one time, it would have been the world's tallest hotel. Esquire Magazine dubbed it "The Worst Building in the History of Mankind" and noted that the government of North Korea has airbrushed the building out of pictures.

Other interesting facts:
The basic structure is complete, but no windows, fixtures, or fittings have been installed, and it has never been certified safe for occupancy. Construction came to a halt in 1992 and has never resumed.

The reinforced concrete structure consists of three wings, the face of each wing measuring 100 m (328 ft) long and 18 m (59 ft) wide, which converge at a common point to form a pinnacle. At the top is a 40 m (131 ft) wide circular structure which contains eight floors intended to rotate, topped by a further six static floors. A construction crane is perched at the top, and has assumed the role of a permanent fixture.

It was added to maps and North Korean postage stamps before it was half-finished.

The hotel is so massive that it is clearly visible from nearly everywhere in the city, but it is nearly impossible to get anyone to talk about it. It is often seen as a metaphor of the highly secretive nature of North Korea.

Billboard house.

"The Single Hauz, from Poland, offers cantilevered space for one atop a cement pole, allowing it to be installed anywhere from a mountainside or the top of an existing building, to a lake.

So the bonus is that you don't need a large amount of open land to put the thing on.
In fact, as shown here, it can easily be erected in a lake...or a small track of land anywhere.
It's a double story structure, that although looks a bit thin, can easily accommodate a slender, single occupant.

As some reports suggest - the roof can be packed with solar panels, or a wind turbine generator and slap an OUTsurance ad on the one side of it to make some cash - you've got a fully self sustaining unit.

You want to move house? Just uproot the pole and head on. What a pleasure."
