Micro SD to MS Pro Duo adapter

Bargainhunters, I have come to ask for help again. Due to the popularity of micro sd cards becoming more cheaper to buy, I am in need to for an adapter for use with my psp and other stuff. Works out to be cheaper than if buying the pro duo cards itself, I hope... any one can find anything without resorting to ebay...

Also, I'm not sure of the speeds of it working in my psp, if it is a little slower, I think I can live with that, but I hope that it can take more than 2gb.

O yes it does, it's just that it comes up as about £6-£7 (check mymemory or amazon) but I see dealextreme which does m2 to pro duo for £2ish, but no micro sd though

They are great http://www.mymemory.co.uk/images/products/1180541756-large.jpg from mymemory.com which I bought in August 2007 for £5. They are today at £2.80, a fab bargain and you get the best of both MicroSD and M2. I just tested it again just to make sure and the adapter works with my latest addition which is a Sandisk microSD 4GB SDHC which I also bought from mymemory.com. This works in my Sony camera. Umm at this low price I may just buy another adapter as I stopped buying m2 memory now because of this adapter!

inc delivery is £6.75 (never signed up yet) so i guess i either need to buy something else to make it worth it, or find a cheaper one.

Also, is there any performance difference? Thx in advance!

You can never have enough memory and disks! Take the chance and buy a few more items to share the one time postage cost! The 4GB SDHC microSD is cheap too! When I bought it for £5 + share of postage back in August ( as I bought other items as well) I thought that it was a great deal. Even now, just look at the price of 4GB M2 compared with 4GB SD MicroSD! The Class 2 MicroSD means that it is guaranteed to write at least 2 Mbytes/s. The adapter does not appear to slow this write speed. The Class 2 MicroSD 4GB SDHC with adapter is the same speed as my Sandisk 2GB which is supposed to be 20%-30% faster than the Sony M2. However it is best to surf on the mymemory.com and buy a few cheap items with your adapter so in this way the £4 postage is not so big!

sounds like a great device, has anyone tried a micro SDHC eg a 4 gig or 8 gig with one of these running homebrew on a Sony PSP

DealExtreme have the M2 version for a mere few dollars for those who have those instead. TY for help, and Repped splender for another helpful post.

Thanks for this!! I have ordered a psp off here and have just ordered the adpater and 4gb mirco sd, Cheers!!

Does this work with an 8GB card? the webpage for buying them says it does not work with any sdhc cards, yet you say that you have it working with a 4gb sdhc card? can you tell us the make/model of 4gb card you got from them as they have 3.

My 4GB sdhc is a Sandisk make, it worked with this converter adapter.

No need to say such thing, we are always learning, knowledge is infinite, there is always 99.9999999% things that we don't know. It is best to let the one who knows to say that s/he knows rather than the other way round. In the electronics world, the conversion of data format is nearly always possible. It is best to start off with google and then ebay to see if such converter does exist. Usually the Far Eastern electronics engineers are very technical and can somehow find a way e.g. Compact flash to IDE, SD to IDE etc..

    i said 'I DONT THINK'

    meh.

anyhoo. im off to buy one these now myself. i guess delaextreme is the cheapest sdhc supporting one?

I've got one similar, can confirm it DOES work with an 8gb in a PSP - even if a little slower than using a 2gb via CFW, it works like a treat.

where did you buy yours grimmie??

We use a 8gb SanDisk micro SDHC, which came with the tiny USB adapter (red/black thingy also M2), and the adapter type we all use is Kingston, which were a bulk buy off ebay. It said it wouldn't guarantee supporting 8gb, but we tried it and all the psps we've done here are fine....

Like I said, it's not as fast as a 2gb when being initially read, and then ingame loading etc, but for what I wanted it's spot on, I've got a good selection of games on it, easily 10+ biggies so saves me swapping mem card all the time.

Also, if you use the 8gb, you may want to stick with ISO and don't bother with CSO - can increase read time.....
