I need excel for one computer in our very small office.
I have had a look on Microsoft website and there is a small business version for 5 computers which I don't need.
I can't see a version for 1 computer unless for Home or student use. Am I able to purchase the version for Home use and use the activation key at work.

You probably could but why bother, when you can get it fully legit on a monthly plan from them, and get 1tb of cloud storage as well? Its a 12 month plan. Thats what I went for and the storage alone (for me anyway) is worth it

Thank you for your response. We only need it to use excel and would prefer to buy the download rather than pay monthly.

You could try one of the free office alternatives e.g. Open Offfice - they are supposed to be very good nowadays and compatible with MS Excel

I've use open office for years and never had any problem opening excel files.

Never heard of open office so will have a look at that in the morning. I've been tasked with the purchase so don't want to get it wrong.

Just use Google sheets. Basically the same Thing

Libre open excel files as well and works almost the same, free download and much more regularly updated than open office is.

or free Microsoft Excel online with a free microsoft account.

Libre office. Free. It was a spin off for open office when the company was bought. Open office is the one everyone knows but it's not been developed for a few years although I here some features have now been added. Libre office is a full suite and has been developed and is used by governments and home users. Just save files as. Xls or Doc if your sending via email as the standard default saving format is Odf.. Open document file.. I here Microsoft office products can now open Odf files though as Microsoft have joined the open source community. I've been using for years for business accounts. Letters. Desktop publishing.

    Try ebay?

I ended up buying a download for £55.00
Didn't realise you had to pay annually thereafter for the use of it.
Thanks for all of your help
