Microsoft Office - cheapest around please

Hello all, we recently purchased a new laptop and it had 60 days trial of Microsoft Office, now the 60 days are nearly up we are looking to purchase the full copy. Does anyone know the cheapest around, I have found the Student Edition for about £50 on amazon.

Kind Regards

There was a thread a while back which gave the link to allow students or parents of children to purchase office much cheaper than retail, we used it to buy office, but I cant remember the name of the site. Will try to find it and post back.

Don't know if it's 100% right but my cousin told me that If you use ace utilities to delete all the files and folders from the microsoft office that you put on your hard drive then you can put it back on and use it for another 60 days for free! Can anyone tell me if this is right??

well the cheapest way is the pirate way http://www.instantsmileys.com/smileys/pirate-smiley-12.gif

or just use open office] HERE

A lot of people dont realise there is a perfectly good Office package available for FREE.

It is called OpenOffice and has a word processor, spreadsheet, and so on.

You can download it here

openoffice.org/

The other important thing to note is that a word processng document written in Microsoft Word can be opened in the OpenOffice word processor (this goes for Excel spreadsheets as well).

(I know OpenOffice has already been mentioned, but not everyone knows what openoffice is)

I second the OpenOffice route. Great software and it can open MS Word documents and save as Word too. Best free software out there.

Try it, you won't be disappointed...

Depends what you want it for though. I bought it because my eldest needs power point and publisher for her school work, otherwise I would have stick to openoffice too.

I wrote an Powerpoint presentation recently, took it to someones PC who only had open office and it ran it perfectly.

While I have never done it I believe that if you create a presentation in open ofice it can run in Powerpoint.

Also if you write a document in openoffice you can open it in Word (and vice versa)

Also why not suggest their school gets Open Office and saves all the money they pay Microsoft.

Dont know if this is any good for you

If you know anyone that works for the NHS you can get Microsoft Officel Professional 2007 for £18, all you need is a valid NHS email address to get the offer and register through www.microsoft.com/uk/nhs

Going to pick up a laptop in the next few months so if it does not have it installed I am going to order myself as saves me a couple of ££

MOst schools won't go the OpenOffice route as the exam courses only deal with Microsoft products.
Plus, the new schools ebing built are being told not to worry about their ICT costs, as they are being put out to tender, and to think BIG in terms of what they want, so no incentives to use OpenSource stuff there either

Exactly, and the expectation is that all kids have access to internet and full Microsoft Office latest editions, we had the older version but my eldest was unable to use it for her school work and we therefore had to buy the new one.

Some companies have a agreement with Microsoft about a Home Use programe which allows you to buy the latest version of Office for about £18. I work for BT and they offer this and I'm sure the NHS do to, not sure which other companies do

Someone did say the woolworth were selling it for @£30, ofcourse they are in receivership now, so can't oredr on the web, did pop into my local woolworth, they did not have any and they said that it was 'There own version of office, so not sure its microsoft office, any one know?

Thanks
