Microsoft replaced my xbox 360. Does it have a new warranty?

It had only a couple of months left on the warranty anyway for 3 red lights. they replaced the console rather than repairing it; does this mean i have a new 3 year warranty for rrod plus the standard 1 year?

u shud of got a letter stating that they have transferd the warrenty from your old console to your new one mate? hence its same warrenty

try registering it online on xbox.com, once registered it will tell you how long the warranty is for

Yeah, i thought you get your old warranty, but if you paid for the repair they give you 12 months.

I originally had 4 months left. They have extended it......but only up to 6 months.

Put the serial no. in on the website to register a new devive and it should tell you whats left on the warranty.

    D'oh too slow.

If it's a brand new machine, rather than replacing it, then you should get a brand new warranty with it, no? Thats how it works elsewhere.

it tells you on the back of the xbox when it was manufactured so it would be 3 years from manufacture date......wouldnt it?

Don't think so. If that was the case they could end up replacing something forever.
If an item is guaranteed for say 2 years, most places will repair/replace it until the 2 years is up. After that you'll be on your own. There are exceptions like the 360 scenario where they have extended it to 3 years due to the rrod problem, although I'm certain that they don't renew the warranty with each new replacement console.

That's the whole point of a warranty! If it breaks inside the warranty time then it will be fixed for free under the warranty. If they have to replace the unit then you should get a new warranty as well.

I got a Samsung fridge/freezer replaced under warranty a few weeks ago, and got a brand new warranty with it (because it was a new fridge/freezer.) Why should you not get a new warranty on a new piece of kit?

You're wrong. So if this new one fails in 2 years they'll replace it, and then if that fails 2 years later they'll replace that and so on, so that in effect he'll have had a 360 under warranty for 6 years?
    Dream on.

    +1
If you had standard warranty left they add 3 months on to it.
If you were out of warranty you have 3 months now etc
