Mini TV help required please

Has anyone ever used a mini television on a train ? I have booked a trip to Newcastle next saturday & ( if England win their group ) they will be playing their second round match when i am on the way home. Will i get a reception on a train & equally as important where is best place to buy one at the moment ? Don't really want to pay too much as unsure when will next need to use it. Thanks for any help.

Take laptop.

log into Tvcatchup.

you will have to keep tuning in as the frequency will change as you go along

Thanks guys but no laptop

not bothered how often have to retune - just don't want to miss the whole thing.

Tv Catchup - have used it everyday on the way home from school to watch the world cup, its great

I've tried using 3G internet on a train, and the signal was pretty poor, can't imagine you'd have better luck with a TV signal.
Check if the areas you are travelling through have converted to digital yet, i imagine you'd have more luck with an analogue signal. I remember buying a very small black and white tv for about 20 quid a couple of years ago - you could try that.....

or the easy option - radio 5

btw does www.eurovisionsports.tv work in the UK?
I've been using it here in bulgaria, really good picture.

not when moving and in a train you wont!

and the manual tuning on the above radio will work better, i find digital or auto tuners get all wonky when you pass by a cell transmitter when travelling
I fond that type of radio the best when travelling on trains

Reception will be dodgy on AM, dab or not. But atleast with DAB you will get a clear reception the majority of the time which you don't so much with regular AM(or not where I live anyway).

Probably not relevant after last performance. Fingers crossed for wednesday but may as well buy nothing before then

Not really, DAB is digital so you either have reception or you don't, with a small-zone of intermittent reception and its irratating associated drop-out sounds. AM certainly sounds pretty naff pretty much everywhere, but you are at least likely to always be able to hear something provided your not in a deeply mountainous area. And as good as DAB reception is when it works, it simply wasn't designed to work that well when travelling at 120 mph when within a steel chassis...

Go onto eBay, search for AM Radio and look for something cheap. That's what I did for the last game of the previous season for the football. Was an AM and FM radio with headphones, and got one for £3 delivered.

I checked pound shops at the time but all they had were FM radios.
