Hopefully now more parents will responsibly vaccinate their children.

The GMC case did not investigate whether Dr Wakefield's findings were right or wrong, instead it was focused on the methods of research.

In 1998 the Lancet published a study, led by Dr Andrew Wakefield, which linked the jab with autism and bowel disease
It has since been discredited and the Lancet has said it should not have run it

+1 but tbh having a child severely affected by the after effects of a childhood disease, I sincerely wish and hope that parents vaccinate their children whether it be by combined or single vaccinations which should be offered on the NHS all over the UK and not just in some areas:thumbsup:

    this is old hat,

lets put it in simpler terms, I say "bananas cause cancer" you say "prove it" I say "you prove it don't"

there is no prove of anything therefore this is nothing until there is proof of either side of story

    :whistling:

Isn't the story that not only did this researcher conduct flawed research (the subject of other investigations), but he also did so in an unethical way. So really this was very poor research all through.

Of course it kind of makes me wonder why the media were so keen to publish stories about the research. Did they not have people capable of reading the study and putting it into better context? Or did they just go with it because it made a great headline? Now the media are quick to blame the researcher (and get more headlines), but seem to have forgotten their role in the ugly mess of scared parents not vaccinating children.

But if your research methods are wrong you will get the wrong findings.

Lets say I only ask people with two heads how many heads they have. I can confidently predict my findings will be that people on average have two heads......my findings are correct but my research method was flawed....

I think it speaks volumes on the pursuit of Wakefield by the Government. Maybe if he'd paid a tenner instead of a fiver, it would have been fine. After all, money talks.

I think the damage his shoddy research has caused warrants it.

The media will escape punishment, despite them being the people who whipped up the hysteria.
