Mobile Broadband / Free Laptop deals

Hi, I am looking to get a wireless broadband to work online when I am away - I have seen some deals with free laptops - does anyone know of the best one at the moment? Thanks, Kate

If you work it out (which they hope you won't !) you end up paying a LOT more for the laptop than buying it. . .

The laptop are anything but free in my experience

thanks for the advice - what would be a good deal to get just for the broadband wireless thingy (not very IT literate!!).

The way i get wireless internet (not broadband) very cheaply, is to use the internet for my mobile, and connect the phone to my computer.

I currently have unlimited internet on my "3" sim, costing me like £3 a month for 6 months. The speeds are decent, enough for me to browse sites comfortably and read emails. If I'm patient enough i also can watch abit of youtube.

Thanks - I really don't know exactly what I need. Basically I work in recruitment so will use the laptop when I'm not in the office to search for candidates on sites such as Monster and email so need it to work quite quickly or searches will take forever!

Id be wary as the T's & C's of mobile phone contracts usually state you arnt allowed to use it as a modem, not sure what the penalty is if they catch you tho.....

It depends how much your going to use and where your going to use it, if its hotels whilst away to avoid the costs of using the internet in the hotels id have a look at BT or T Mobile as both give you access to their wifi networks as part of their mobile broadband packages and a BT Openzone wifi connection will usually be faster than mobile broadband. In addition BT broadband packages, residential or business, include some BT Openzone wifi minutes so depending on where your using it you might be able to get away with a pay & go mobile broadband solution rather than a monthly contract.

I've used my Web'n'walk on my mobile as a modem for the whole duration of the contract and they never really said anything, besides the occasional text message saying that i've nearly used all of the fair-use allowance.

I guess for the occasional email or general surfing the net, they won't really pay any attention. But then again, I used my mobile as a modem for Youtube downloading and still got away with it lol.
