Mobile phone for the partially sighted?

Hey all. Looking for a mobile phone for my grandad who is partially sighted (actually nearly completely blind). He keeps going on about the Nokia N70, would this be suitable? It needs to have big buttons and be able to read an texts out loud.

I put it in Misc as I don't know anything specific to be able to post a deal request.

    Cheers all

what kind of things did they help with, my OH is blind in one eye but he is far too male to look for things that would help him out

You would need to phone them up or check out their website to see what help you would get, each person has diffrent needs so they could assist him with this.

    thanks

The N70 is a series60 powered smartphone, I'm wondering if your Grandad likes this one because he's heard of an app to help out? I'm thinking something like this:

My neighbour is a pensioner and the RNIB honestly helped her so much,. They waived the yearly subscription fee for the talking books service. They organised a local organisation to come out and put raised buttons on things like her washing machine, cooker, power button on her wee stereo - loads of stuff.

Got her a talking clock too which she loves. Plus more importantly they keep in touch with her.

Is your husband registered blind or partially sighted ? I am very short sighted and been a contact lens wearer for 20 years now but at least I can see - I would hate to suffer from blindness, would be horrendous

at the moment he is 85% blind in his right eye he can see shadows but thats it if people come up behind him on that side it makes him jump coz he cant see their shadow until they are right in front of him and he can se them with his good eye (hope i explained that ok lol)

he is not registered as i think at the time his mum asked about it they said he wast blind enough to be registerd blind or partially blind
