Mobile Recycling Companies - Can they reject the phone for any reason?

Found 14th Oct 2010
I've just sent in a phone to Money4mymobile last week which was confirmed at £165. The price on the website has now dropped to £110.

The phone is in pristine condition and fulfils their terms on the website.

I would like to know whether the company HAS to pay me the £165 (ie a contract's been formed) or can they 'change their mind' and send me back the phone?

Argue with them and attach the original offer of £165!

Sorry I didn't make the OP clear (changed now)

They haven't changed the offer (as of yet), I just want to know from a legal perspecitve whether by me fulfilling the terms on the website, a contract's formed (ie they will have to pay me the £165)?

Most websites will make you an offer and that will lapse after say 7/14 days or so.

It should be within their current t&c's though.

Have you got anything that mentions the original £165? If not then you are probably stuffed, still worth an argument though! I assume you have as you mention it was 'confirmed'

At the moment nothings changed I'm just think worse case scenario. I know that I would be able to argue that I've got written confirmation, but I'm just wondering whether it's a legal contract, or can they just say that it's 'invitation to treat'?

if you sent it in within the set number of days they should and probably would pay out the £165. Iv sold stuff to cex before that dropped in value just after i had sent mine in (but not by much prabably a few pounds) and cex paid out the original amount.

To help us process your phone and pay you the full working amount, please make sure that your phone:

Is listed on our website;
Is under 4 years old;
Reaches us within 14 days. The price we quote you is valid for 14 days and we reserve the right to pay the current market rate for phones received after this period.
