Monitor Screen Flickering does anyone know why?

Hi, i had this problem a while ago and then it stopped and now it flickers again. I spoke to Medion and they said that it was unlikely to be a fault with the monitor but check the grapics, but can anyone tell me where to go to check what it might be. Also i noticed that if i tap the harddrive a little (well bang the side) it stops.
Thanks

Assuming it is not a laptop, check connection cables, this may cause the problem.

Is there a key stuck down?

its a good job i dont get epilepsy from flashing else i would be having attacks frequently

lol love the doggy pic miffy, anyway just try tightening the screws on the connector at the pc end
ps a harddrive is an internal component the box i presume u mean is called the base unit

Check that the graphics card is seated correctly in the base unit & that the connection from the card to the monitor is firmly attached at both ends (i.e. screwed in, nit just plugged in).

Symptoms suggest that the problem is at the PC end but you may as well check the connection at both ends whilst you're there.

I'll pm you my address. Post the monitor to me and I'll check it out for you.

Ooops yes sorry i did mean the base unit

If tapping the base unit makes it stop then it sounds like the cable might not be in properly, just go round the back and plug it back in and do up the screws.

Apart from that it would help a lot to know what type the monitor is (CRT or LCD), how it's plugged in (]DVI or ]VGA) and the model of the monitor if you know it.

nigeria by any chance? :whistling:

Might sound silly but if you've stuck a mobile phone near the monitor it can cause this effect, a bit like when you get the annoying buzzing sound from speakers when a text message comes in. That might not explain why it goes away when you hit the base unit, but then doing anything for a few seconds while the phone stops talking to the cell will seem to cure it. Worth a try.
Anyway, yes as endless waves said, lcd or ordinary crt monitor?

Yeah, if it's a CRT or using the analogue vga connection then speakers and other things could cause interferance.

Yep, happens on my sisters PC.

Hers is medion too

the graphics card comes loose somehow.

when you open the side, it'll be near the bottom and it'll be coming out toward you.
just push it in a bit hard.
