Hi. Today I went with my son to purchase an Xbox 60gb console bundle. After we got home he unpacked it but insisted on bringing it down stairs to set up on the large tv in the lounge. He positioned it vertically and wished now that he hadn't. After a mere 15-20 game play, tragedy was to strike. Dear baby sister knocked into it, completely innocently (she is only 22 months after all) and straightaway the game froze. My son tried to reset the console but to no avail. He tried to remove the disc but the drive door would not open. We removed the faceplate to see if there was a quick fix but alas nothing. After hunting around on the internet, we stumbled onto the Microsoft website and followed the instructions to manually release the drive. After much perserverence, the door opened. Unfortunately, it would seem that the mechanics of the drive weren't working. Nothing happened to the drive when the eject/close button was depressed. Having spent £190 on this particular package, what should we do. My dilemma rests with what we say if I return it to the shop. Should I return it? Would they offer a gesture of goodwill and replace it? My son has sobbed many a tear this evening and I just want to get this sorted for him. Your advice and thoughts would be gratefully received.
