I'm fighting with BA just now for a refund (bit of a complex one) however, the sales assistant has said the quickest way of now getting a refund (it's a bit of a mess of a case) is to book a flight with my voucher and hope it gets cancelled and then they offer the full refund.

He said I might need to book and then change the flight if it doesn't get cancelled and keep doing that until the flight is cancelled....seriously, can you imagine the hassle?

Anyway - my question is, any thoughts on the most likely places to cancel flights? I noticed flights to Riga have all been cancelled up until 23rd June, was thinking of booking that for the 23rd in the hope they push it back further?

In all of your many threads on here about wanting to book a trip to New York in the winter people have been telling you to wait and see before booking a holiday because everything is up in the air right now in the industry. I think this thread here proves this point exactly. (edited)

I have 5 days in November booked for New York (which was booked in 2019), Thanks Giving, BA have £2k of my money not sure whats going to happen, but reality is Id like it cancelled in the current climate, if I cancel Ill lose £380 so just going to hold out and hope that the flights are cancelled.

I got screwed in March, we went to Egypt had 2 days then the lock down happened worldwide, Egypt closed its airports and we had to be repatriated,

No refund of anything, and zero insurance payout as disruption cover doesn't included package holidays! cant claim from ABTA or ATOL as we actually went, and travel agent couldn't care less, £3000 holiday for 6 of us just totally lost all money..

If our Holiday was 1 week later then we would of got full refund.. (edited)

It's hard - I like to post on forums for advice but at the moment there's so many background stories to what people are actually looking for (and what I'm looking for) that it's hard for folk to give advice.

Hi - I've probably not elaborated too much on the hassle I've been going through.
As you say, I have posted alot - apologies if that's been unnecessary but there are reasons for them all. Unfortunately for this one BA gave me misinformation which has ended up with me losing alot of money and the only way to recoup that money is to book a flight that gets cancelled (sounds ridiculous but that's the advice BA has given).

This post is simply to see if anyone has any thoughts on routes that they may have heard will be cancelled.

Unfortunately that's what happened. I had a flight booked for 6 people, I paid for it all. The flight went right at the start of lockdown but BA offered a voucher - I said that's fine aslong as I can use it all......I then received the voucher and realised I can't use it all, it has to be booked for the 6 different people. I'm fighting with them over it as it's a mess and one helpful chap who wanted to do the best he could told me to book flights with the voucher and hope they get cancelled then they give a money refund.

I get it....again there were personal reasons behind having to book either this year or never so decided to take the gamble with a refundable (with a small fee) ticket. I know I could lost a little money but it's not a huge amount for the gamble.
