Most suitable App for backing up Hard drive (free)

    Hi All,

Looking for the most suitable windows application for backing up a partition on my internal HDD to my external HDD.

Ideally I would like to Instantly mirror what is written on the HD. i.e. When I save a file to E: I want it to also save to F:

By suitable I mean most efficient or one that works the best from your experiences.

    Thanks in advance.

This is a tiny (free) program that will do the job. I use this. Give it a go and then decide.

Don't think a RAID solution over internal/external drives would work very well (or even be possible in most cases)...

Are you sure you want a direct copy over something like a daily incremental backup? What sort of data is on the E: drive - I'm guessing its not the Windows operating system...

Its just audio files..photos and stuff...basically all my data. Well I guess a daily backup would suffice aswell. What do you suggest for that?

I really just want something that won't cause too much hassle, not complicated...nor use a lot of computer resources so it will run easily while I'm dong other tasks.

Depending on your Windows version it may well already have Windows Backup software - not amazing but it should do the job.

I use microsoft Synctoy to mirror all files from the partition with my data files to a folder on an external HDD.

Never said it would, i was giving an option that i think would be the best way to achieve mirroring files (in realtime).

i should have said this would require two internal drives

You also may want to look up online data storage. ]ADrive basic gives you 50gb storage which should be enough for your irreplaceable's like your photos. Its not super fast but once you have uploaded adding on wont take long. You could also compress them (ie. RAR) to save upload time and space if you have a good CPU.

This is the ideal set up.... But I do a lot of audio and design work,....and I work on a desktop and laptop and need my files in sync....having said that I think I may need to rethink the setup...any more suggestions?
