Would I be able to get rid of the noise by cleaning the disc brakes with washing up liquid?

Probably not a wise move as washing up liquid acts like a lubricant.

The pads are probably contaminated, remove the pads, as long as they are in good condition clean them by putting a couple of drops of washing up liquid on the face of the pad then gently rubbing the pads together face to face, rinse and dry thoroughly, then give the disc a wipe over with ipa if you have it.
you possibly have hydraulic oil on them? worth checking to see if there is a leak.

replace the pads.

I'll try this tomorrow. Thanks
Dont press the brakes while the pads are removed. You make have a seperator to hold them open while you change them.
