Mountain Bike for Girlfriends Birthday

Hello all, does anyone know if there are any good deals about for a lady's mountain bike for about £100? Its for the missues birthday on friday. She wants a Wii but i cant afford that :-( Her current bike is rubbish though so im sure she'll appreciate a new one. Thanks!

I don't know anything about bikes at all - but this one is £109 with £10 delievery ]here

If youre looking to buy a mountain bike they are not worth having unless you want to pay over £250 im afraid. Anything less than that and you get complete rubbish which would not survive on a mountain. Your best bet would be getting one used (you can get really good bikes this way), and just clean it and all that (you can pay a local bike shop to do this if you want), and then give it to her in really good condition, hopefully looking like new. Do not whatever you do buy one from halfords as their bikes are shocking!

Check out www.singletrackworld.com and find the forums. They have a really large community and would surely give even better advice than im giving now!

Won't get anything for that price M8:

These are the best entry level bikes I can find:

    tredz.co.uk/det…246

    tredz.co.uk/det…150

    cyclestore.co.uk/pro…=69

Really need to be looking around £300 mark for a half decent entry level bike (Specialized Hardrock Sport,Scott Contessa etc.).£100 bikes are a complete waste of money IMO.But bikes listed above are good value for money.

    Hope this helps.:)

Same as above, you would be cheaper buying a Wii lol.

Wasnt there a cheap Wii deal on here, some way to get it under £120.

Either way, dont forget flowers

Thanks for the replies. She wouldnt be doing any off road biking, more leisurely trips on the local flat cycle paths in my area while im running alongside. Wouldnt the ~£100 ones be alright for just this? They're 100x better than the one shes got at the moment!

I can't see why not. You would be best off getting her a full rigid bike though (dont bother thinking about suspension if youre spending less than £200 (its heavy useless and doesnt work)

Whats the make of the bike she has at the moment?

Dont want to go buying a cheap thing if its not gonna be any better than what shes got atm.

Im not sure about the make of it, all i know is shes had it since she was about 13 maybe even younger. Shes going to be 25 on friday.

Dont buy that, if anything get the Aluminium one in the Deals thread

Theres no point in buying any rubbish from halfords, ti would only be regretted, buy a decent one in reasonably good nick used imo.

Don't buy from Haflords. Worse service ever.

Don't get a gold ring, they're well heavy. Don't buy from Ratners - they fit like a prawn sandwich. If you're not going to spend $1000,000, you may as well cut her fingers off.
