    Moving abroad, what is the best bank to use to avoid charges

    ok so my nephew is moving to lanzarote for 6 months and wants to find the best bank to have his money in, obv we need the one who charges the least for transactins abrad etc
    Any advice

    HSBC???? "the worlds local bank"?? or Santander is retty big over there...think it might be the same as a bank over here...abbey nat or summat...not too sure

    Nationwide the other banks charges u even HSBC

    open a local account with a local bank probably,when he gets there. Santander comes to mind linked to A&L, Braford and Bingley also Abbey

    do you know if he can put money into the account also, he will be earning whilst there so needs somewhere to bank his earnings

    We live in Malaga and UK and have found that both Lloydstsb and Halifax dont charge for money both ways.
    Not sure if they are in Canaries though
