Moving from Tiscali to TalkTalk - do I need to tell Tiscali

I'm currently on Tiscali BB (BT line) and signed up last night for TalkTalk BB/Phone/Line bundle with a date of 31/3/08 to transfer. Is it right that TT sort everything out like cancelling with Tiscali /BT and I can sit back. (what the TT guy said on phone)

Can anyone who knows or had experience of tranferring broadband advise/confirm this ?

    Rgds

We just changed from BT broadband to sky keeping our BT phone line. All we did was get a MAC code from BT, didn't have to cancel or anything like that but I did phone BT to check

Usually you need to get a mac code from your current bb service provider to allow the transfer to begin.
All you have to do is call tiscali ask them for a mac code they should be able to issue it right away.
Then contact talk talk with the code

I 'm with talk talk have been for years had a bit off hassle with the transfer but it was when talktalk where just starting bb so should be ok now :)

You sholdn't need a MAC code if moving to a totally unbundled service. Which Talk Talk is in alot of areas

It is unbundled and I have used MAC codes before with other suppliers a few years ago, but I understand they do it automatically nowadays assuming it goes smoothly

You don't need a mac code if moving to LLU I assure you of that, you can still get one but ti's not required. If you stay ona BT wholesale (rebranded adsl) product that is when a MAC code is needed.

When moving from Tiscali BB/Talk to any LLU provider you do not need to get a MAC code. BT will inform Tiscali that you have moved supplier.

However, Tiscali appear to be ignoring this advice from BT and continuing to charge you until you tell them otherwise, so my advice is the day your new service goes live, phone tiscali to inform them that they are no longer supplying. I don't recommend you do this before the day your new service goes live, because I have known Tiscali stop BB and telephone immediately.

I have not had any problems from any other supplier

    The telephone number for Tiscali is 0845 077 4488 9am - 6pm Mon-Fri

Now the fun begins, trying to get Tiscali to stop taking your money, make sure that you cancel Tiscali in writing by recorded delivery.
