Mozzys in Kos?

I'm thinking of going to Kos early August but I've seen horror story posts online about being bitten by mosquitos constantly. Has anyone been during this time and can comment about how accurate these posts are likely to be?

We will be staying in Kardemena if the resort makes any difference

Take some Bens 100 (100% DEET) with you. If you can find any. Insect repellent.

Yep. There are plenty of mosquitos, but that is to be expected. Just make sure you are prepared. Insect repellent with Deet should do the job, as MyChemist said.

I went to Kos about 2 years ago in October and it wasn't too bad but I imagine it probably being worse in August! I picked up some wrist bands from Savers (about £1.50 each) but never actually used them in the end!

Use strong repellant but make sure you're not sensitive to it before you go. Take sensible precautions such as sleeves etc at night. Keep your windows shut if possible. The beach is less likely to have mosquitoes than areas with plants. At the end of the day, it's a Mediterranean island so may have mozzies but as Greek isles go it is pretty arid so it may not be as bad as you think.

We went the last week in August/first week in September a few years ago and I was fine which was surprising considering the mess the Scottish midges leave me in.

The only time I got bit was the first night when we slept with the doors open instead of putting the air con on.
