MS Word Help!

I am currently 7000 words into my Dissertation and Word is driving me absolutly mad.

A couple of problems,

1) When I justify a paragraphy, sometimes it does it correctly like this,

example example example example example
example example example example example
example example example example example

but sometimes it does this,

example example example example example
example example example example example
e...........x.......a..........m.......p......l......e

(if you get what I mean)

2) Spelling and Grammer, when i perform a spell check, the lanague is set to US English, I change it to UK English and it automatically changes back to US.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it so much!!!

Is your copy of Windows currently set to US english? That's probably causing it to default in MS Word.

Hmm I don't know, how would I check this?

Go to control panel, then go to Regional and Language Options. Change to UK English then go to advanced tab and change that too.

ok thanks, for that..the language in the first section was UK english but was US english in the advanced tab. Have changed and hopefully this will sort out my problem

Hopefully that will work. If not there is another solution but I honestly can't remember how to do it:thinking: - My Dad's computer had the same language issue. I'll endeavour to find out.

As a fellow student, I've encountered t h e s p a c e d o u t w o r d t h i n g oftentimes

I think that this occurs when you accidentally go on to a new line while the pc thinks you are still on the one above, so it it justifies it rather than leaving it as it is.

Try backspacing when this happens and that might sort it.

best thing to do is use format painter. Select a paragraph that is formatted correctly and the select format painter. Then goto the spaced out text and highlight that. This should copy the formatting.
