    Much as I love my Sky+, I ain't happy with sky

    My sky TV keeps pausing/missing frames. I've put up with it for 2 or so months but today I missed Italys 2nd goal because of it. I just came of the phone to sky and they wanna charge me £65 for the privledge of having an engineer sent out. the guy on the phone talked me through some diagnostics checking and my signal is a 2 it should be a 8 or 9. He asked is anything blocking your dish, I replied yes my neighbours had sky fitted in the last couple of months, does it block your dishes line of site yes I replied. Oh it's probably that, but because your a home moving customer we only guarentee your install for that time, he then goes on to tell me to get my neighbour to contact skt to have his dish moved as he's still in his 1 year contract. How can they get away with this? Why should I have to ask my neighbour to shift his dish that was fitted by sky. Think I'll give trading standards a ring in the morning. I could understand the £65 charge if it was my fault, but when the fault has been cuased by a sky installer????

    is it by chance an amstrad? if do then pop over to digitalspy and look for the skipping threads. theres a template email in there that will almost certainly get you a free replacement box and engineer visit

    If you're out of contract just phone up to cancel, explain your situation and they'll probably help you out.

    If not you've got a month to reactivate your subscription, no hassle.

    Quickest route IMHO.

    Definately dont have one of their cowboys come out. If you agree to it, that'll be £65 you wont be getting back.

    The fact they have sited a dish which blocks your dish, isn't something that you should expect to face a charge for. Assuming that is what is the cause of course!

    Are you certain the dish hasn't been knocked?

    If it were me, I would spell out that this problem is of their own making and if they chose not to resolve it, then you will cancel your subscription. Its one thing to have your reception blocked by your neighbours growing tress (for example), but they cannot expect you to pay for their own incompetance!

    just make sure you spell it out how it is sky engineers fitted a dish in front of your dish no fault of your own and this is the problem.
    Just goes to show you what clowns sky contract to do there work for them i sure its a basic rule that you don't site a dish in front of another dish :thinking:

    have a look at this thread on digitaspy, my sky+ box was doing exactly the same thing, it was about 3 years old.

    It is a known fault with the amstrad boxes but if you phone sky they will deny it.

    i sent an email to the guy they said to and within a week i had a brand new sky+ box free of charge

    I have a pace box, so can't see it being that. The problems only started about 2 months ago, same time as my neighbour got sky. If I look out side now his dish sits in front of mine about 1m apart, blocking my dishes line of sight.
