Typical of this country, build a man up and gloat when he falls.

Dont know what it is with this guy, I just cant stand him

He may be proud and he is a Scotsman, but don't mock him until you have learned to play tennis yourself.

Imagine the disappointed look on his face........not that u can tell the difference from when he wins!!

I lol at the people mocking............his apparent being 'rubbish' at Tennis today has just earnt him more than you will this year

He's British when he wins and Scottish when he loses!

not quite in Nadals league yet, but getting there!

    Good, miserable ****

he's always scottish win or loose, I normally support Scots, Irish & Welsh in any sport but not when one of them comes out before an important England football game and says he hopes we loose!

why would you expect anyone in England (especially the footie fans) to like him after that, he's clearly good at tennis but I always hope he looses.

Then, that makes you as bad as him, doesn't it?

Murray will be leagues better than the golden boy of British tennis, Henman. He's already won 9 titles in his short career, at 21 - Henman only won 13 in his entire career.

I don't think that makes them as bad as him because as he stated, had he not come out with that comment, the poster would have supported him. It's Murray's own fault for saying what he did.

So in essence, what you're saying is 'He started it'. Pathetic.

Yep, I am. He can't expect English people to SUPPORT him when he has told us in no uncertain terms that he does NOT support us. Not pathetic at all. He's a great tennis player but to come out with something like that, a bit of an idiot. Don't think for a minute that if Henman had said 'I hope Scotland lose their football match' the Scottish wouldn't have had exactly the same reaction. That's life, and if that makes me pathetic, I don't much care

    That makes him Scottish then.

I suggest you read his comments in full and in context before spouting rubbish.

Have none of you actually read what he said...it was QUITE CLEARLY a joke, and a bit of banter with a friend.

To be fair you may have a point there, I don't remember where I read it - I think I heard it on talksport at the time but I was sure it was in a press conference not an overheard bit of banter between mates? I'll try to find out sometime....

Tim Henman and a Journalist were having a dig at Murray asking how well he thought Scotland would do at the World Cup (a tournament the Scotland did not qualify for), later when asked in the same conversation who he would be supporting he quipped 'anyone but England'.

And from this innocuos light hearted piece of banter between mates the legend of the evil English hater Murray grew.

He never said anything of the kind regarding English people. He stipulated, as another poster below mentioned, that he'd support anyone but the English football team in the World Cup - take the remark in it's context and reassess your opinion, or just continue to believe the trash that was talked about him in the gutter press after the event - and for several years after. This was back in 2006 fgs, and you lot still can't get over it. if that isn't pathetic, I don't know what is.

Scotland and England have been fierce rivals for as long as I can remember, as many other neighbouring countries exhibit.

Fact of the matter is that Murray represents Britain when he plays, in case that's escaped your limited mind.
