my 4th wedding question - to have or not to have colleagues

    Banned
some of the guys from work want to go to the reception, one even wants to come to the wedding as an usher. I would rather none of them were there as I hate being reminded of the hell hole. Opinions?

I wouldnt invite them at all!

Why should you HAVE to invite peeps you dont really like, i didnt invita most of my family lol

    Remember its your day!

As difficult as it might be to actually say they aren't invited. It's YOUR day. You have there who you want. A gentler way may be to say that there will be a problem with numbers if you go inviting your work colleagues and your other half's work colleagues.

    Could always save them cake

It is your wedding and your day. You invite who you want. If you want to let them down gently tell them you are trying to control the costs and so have decided to restrict the numbers.

Dont feel obliged to ask any of them.

Hope you have a good day

as others have said - its your day - you invite who you and partner wants there

i guess your next question is going to be .................................................

    why am i getting married?:-D

save your money and go on a really super holiday - mauritus - saychelles or the like

you wont regret it - your still together - just havent got that band of gold or piece of paper declaring to the world you are legally together

    who says romance is dead

    good luck and be happy:thumbsup:

The place we are looking at has a capacity of 300? - actually scrub that they don't do evening receptions

holly already have the band of gold, it's my Dad's grandma's old ring

love the idea of the holiday, but she's set on having a wedding

Erm, as many people have said, it's your day, you decide. As for the guy that wants to be an usher - is he just inviting himself???

    Don't do it!!!

we had this trouble, at the end of the day you can't invite everyone and when you look back you want to have enjoyed the day with people you want there. We got married last year and only invited people we wanted there, my dad has brothers he hasn't seen for years and I haven't really seen so they weren't invited. The last thing you want is to be over nervous worrying about all the people coming, you want to relax knowing that your in the company of the people you want to spend your special day with.

I'd just say we've got a limit to how many people we can invite because of cost and unfortunately we can't invite everyone. You should not feel like you have to invite them. Perhaps just to the night do at the most

Depends whether they're friends too or only work colleagues-to be an Usher I would expect him to be someone you spend a lot of time down the pub with, chat a lot, have known for years and would share secrets with. If he is, he shouldn't be penalised because he reminds you of work.

However, if he's none of the above he's obviously a loner with no friends of his own who will ever get married and he saw this as his opportunity. Set him straight before he becomes delusional and starts organising strippers.

surely you pick who the ushers are?! folk dont just come to your wedding as an usher because they feel like it!

tell them, its just family only, that you are having a small wedding.

lol i never realised you were supposed to invite yourself to peoples weddings!!

It's your wedding so you have who you want to come.

    Next... 5th question tomorrow.

His wife is dying of cancer  but you're right he's an ass to everyone he comes across, and sees death as a cash give away bonanza
