cant believe i just answered that

I would have put a tenner on that being the first answer.

Her bother will sit happily munching away while the dryers on, but she runs a mile.

Wondered if there is anyone know of 'therapy' to get her used to it?

it aint 24 hrs a day is it, the cat will eat when its not on, its no biggie surely

Take the cat out of the tumble dryer?

We can only feed it when we are home, and as we both work long hours, it doesn't get fed in the afternoon till around 7pm - then we have to do the cleaning so the dryer's usually on when the cat wants to eat.

It's too loud to have on at night. (the tumble dryer that is)

She's as timid as anything! Getting hold of her to put earplugs in would be a good start.

Or if she's not already in it, maybe try putting her in? Like some kind of 'shock therapy'?

    Original Poster Banned

Cool. So the answer to get my cat to eat at night is to put her in the tumble dryer? You haven't got pets have you?

Can you not feed her and wait 10 minutes until she is finished AND then turn the dryer on?

May as well put her in the washing machine first.

Not trying to be cruel but...
Starve them for a bit....then feed the cat while the dryer is on. The cat won't have a choice but to eat the food.

Sounds logical but she won't eat straight away. She's a weird cat (you've probably guessed).

We can leave food out in the morning and she won't eat it until her brother has finished and we have left the house.
I know some people have disorders where they can't go to the toilet if people are close to them, sometimes even if they are in the same house.

I'm wondering if my cat has something that won't allow her to eat whilst anything is near her?

    She's very thin!

Ding Ding, or you could be even kinder and relocate the food bowls to a safer feeling place for the cats.

    Move the cats dinner bowl.....

It doesn't HAVE to be next to the Tumble Dryer.

If Puss doesn't like it - you cant aclimatise them to it - without LOTS of time and enery and stress for both.....

Move the dinner bowl, or use ur tumble dryer after she has eaten.....

After all - its her feelings too, not just as and when you turn on / off the dryer.....

what a stupid reply. how often is the dryer on? this really isn't something you should have to ask advice about, unless you're a bit simple

Tried it. She can go without food by the looks of it. We have to shut the door to her 'eating room' and force her to eat before we open the door.

    or maybe get a dog?

    Tried that as well.
The only time she will eat is if we give her ham (adult ham we are supposed to eat!) in the bedroom - even then she pulls it out your fingers and runs away to a dark place to eat.

Why not put the dryer on a timer, and have it switch on whilst you are at work, finishing just before you get home, then you can feed the cat with no dryer on ?

Can you not leave plenty of dry food out for the cats whilst at work, that way there is plenty available for her when the dryer is not on and her brother has had his fill.

One of my cats is funny about eating when others are around.....well she used to be.She is quite old now and has gone deaf this past year so noises don't bother her anymore and she eats regardless of whether the other cats are about or not.

Our eldest cat wont eat while the dryer or washing machine are on, its a nuisance sometimes but we just have to work around her.

    No timer on the dryer.
And I'm not paying for a new dryer before anyone comes up with that idea.

The amount of love and affection coming from this cat, simply doesn't warrant it!

im still confused why you cant turn the dryer off whilst the cat has some food

We get home at 6.30/7.00pm. We then feed the cats.

Poppy (the cat in question), won't eat until Jasper (her brother) has finished. Then she'll go and have a sniff and vanish for an hour. So then we put the dryer on (as we need to get it done before we go to bed) and she'll come back, sit in the kitchen and wait for the dyer to go off, THEN she'll go and eat. This can be around 10pm by the time everything is done and it would be a lot easier for her to eat whilst the dryer is on, like her brother does sometimes.

Just wondered if anyone else had a similar problem.

Buy a plug in timer, set the dryer ready and have the wall timer come on when needed ?. Unless the dryer is a totally digital one.

Different food ?, my cat goes of brands really quick and I need to rotate food brands often. He can go from shop own brand to top brand and back within a month.
