My Ebay account has been hijacked!

I recieved an email from Ebay advising me that my item had not sold. I have not listed anything so i went to have a look and basically somebody has listed a small girls waterproof outfit under my ebay account. I tried to log into my ebay and it won't let me in so it looks like the password has been changed. I have cancelled my card and bank details from paypal just incase (different password) and informed paypal by email. I have also advised ebay but had no responce as of yet. I am on the phone at the moment advsing my bank..
What is it all about? i thought it may be a small tester to see if it gets noticed and if nothing comes of it they would do something bigger!!???

i would suggest to keep an eye on your account over the next few days, i had this with play.com, someone ordered a £50 mobile phone on my account.

two days later they ordered a £200 camcorder from dvd.co.uk.

make sure you have no other accounts, with the same email address and password set.

I have now cancelled my card so any accounts i have (they do have a different password) should be declined by my bank. Thanks

I've had this happen to me twice now, MAC make up brushes and GHDs....luckily eBay spotted them before I did!! Well done on keeping all your passwords different! And yes definitely contact eBay help as tinkerbell said. Good luck

Thank you!! i was not aware of this link but i managed to get it sorted out. It turns out that a third party had got into my account and listed this item (also changing my password). Rep left

how did they break in your account anyway? Surely not by "guessing" both the username and password?
I don't think anyone here can answer this, but just a thought - loads of ebay accounts keep gettin hijacked so surely there is a common problem...

I have no idea. My username is shown but my password is a weird one and hard to guess/spell but obviously not hard enough. I can't work out what the point of it was the only thing i can think of is that i have over 500 100% feedback and i have not used it for a bit. Maybe if they had got away with this they would have listed an expensive item next. Could they work at Ebay?...............

This.

If you google Vladuz and eBay, you can find all sorts of info about his supposed hack, including screenshots taken of the eBay database.

interesting. Nearly a year later and ebay still hasnt sorted it out? If this is similar to Paypal's security, then they seriously have issues.
