My cousin and his 18month old son have it. They were not prescribed Tamiflu as it is not dangerous to healthy individuals. x

They give you Tamiflu as it eases the symptoms and thus helps reduce the chance of it spreading ,

oh ok thanks, not sure its a brilliant idea dishing out this medication on symptoms alone, arent they the same symptoms as the flu? seems very strange we seem to be unindated with cases where other countries havent

he's felt unwell since sunday, no energy, tired, sore throat, temperature, ache all over and bad pains in his lower back and head aches. he's not been really really poorly, not how I'd imagine swine flu to be like (if it is swine flu) he's just been very quiet and grumpy!

They have said the symptoms in healthy people have not turned out to be as bad as other cases of Flu. The only thing with swine flu is there isnt a vaccination yet for high risk people,

yes i will assume it is, pretty poor really, how far are they going to let this get without any evidence these people have swine flu, pretty poor really, yes treat them incase but surely also test them to so we know how widespread this really is

Original Poster

I had a chat with the staff at the chemist when I collected his tablets and they said all the cases that have been confirmed have been very mild and it is only seriously effecting people with under lying health issues. doesn't stop me worrying thou! one of my children has got asthma

i should go docs tomorrow as i feel rubbish.
My throat hurts i have a temp and my arms are really painful like someone is stickin a knife in.But it comes and goes. and i have a bad tummy bug with it. My asthma is kicked in too. I hate wasting docs time though.

thats what I've thought all week! he's had no sympathy from me!:-D

Hi

I work in a hospital and the doctors there are saying that it is best to get swine flu now rather than later on. They were saying it really isn't anything to worry about as the cases were people have died are people who have had multiple other health issues. I was worried last week as my son's nursery has a child with it and the nursery didn't close. We were told to send him just as normal, I was a bit freaked out by this but have been reassured that it is ok. Hope your husband gets better soon

My son has come home from school with a letter, there is a suspected case there. They are debating closing the school though, its a special needs school so lots of underlying health issues there.

You're hardly wasting docs time! If you have asthma, you should definatly see your doc hope you feel better soon x

What would you say were the first symptoms he got, Runny nose .Sore throat or aching and tiredness ?.

so let me get this right, those who suspect they have swine flu are openly walking into gp practises where the most vunerable of people will be, that is pretty shocking

i would imagine half the cases are not swine flu, would be very surprised if the perctage was any where over a tiny amount, but our country dont seem to be handling things to well

joking aside i hope he is ok x best to be on the safe side, especially if you have young ones. They say the full blown symptons will materialise in winter so maybe you will be lucky and build a bit of immunity to it if this is what he has, and the virus doesn't mutate.

yer, he didn't even suspect he had it, we thought he was maybe anaemic or something cos of his lack of energy. we thought he was maybe just run down and I thought he'd come back saying it was a "virus"

which they have been told not to do, phone NHS direct and there are special clinics set up if they think you have symptoms. I would hate to think i'd infected an old person with heart and breathing problems or a pregnant lady or a small baby.

so if he was already at gp you think they would have tested him anyway, to rule it out, even if just for the figures

I feel I should point out that Sassie doesn't seem to have a clue what testing for swine flu involves, and the large number of tests that would be needed making it unworkable.

To be honest i don't think i would go to the docs with "flu" like symptons ..i've only ever had proper flu once and i couldn't even move my head of the pillow anyway. My personal view is that the government are being over cautious and it's causing mild mass hysteria.

if I'm really honest I dont think its swine flu, I'm no dr but I think he is just run down, shattered and has a bit of a cold (do I sound mean? I don't mean to) I know he has felt rough, rough. but I thought swine flu was some major illness where the person is bed ridden, unable to move or do anything? maybe he does have swine flu and its not as bad as what everyone is making out? I dont know
