It really is lovely there - and takes me back to when I was a young innocent 17yr old and my first proper boyfriend who had a car used to drive down their and we made steamy windows:-D

I got married just along from that hotel, here loch-lomond.co.uk/wel…spx

Anyway JB, u have a man who am sure is a mega romantic and will take you down there and you can make your own steamy windows:-D

Just stay away from any blue lagoon chippy!

LLM you need to think romance here!!! I go down there a lot as only 20 mins in car and never sick of it! Take Jellybaby with you though poor lassie is missing out just now!

But I would definitely say go to either Ashton Lane, or Sauchiehall Street - loadsabars!

Done that! Marriott.

Thats brilliant as u r slap bang in middle of Glasgow. To go to Ashton Lane u will need a taxi - if u use that private company it will only cost you £3/4 tops, but if I were you I would just hoof it along the main streets and see what pubs draw you in:thumbsup:

bossyboots have they mended Ashton Lane since the fire I was gutted when i read about it and haven;t been to Glasgow in a while - well not that neck of the woods

btw your hotel is only a 5 min walk away from tons and tons of shops! Plus at night that street is bursting with life but your just far enough away you wont be bothered by it.

glasgowguide.co.uk/Gla…htm

Shedboy I havent been to Ashton Lane since Last September - only cause I have got so lazy now and we all meet up in our local which is a 5 minute walk to it and a half hour stagger to get back home!

If you're at the Marriot then you're not far from Charing Cross, head up there and then down Woodlands Road to Uisge Beatha (pronounced Eeshka Vay) if you like a traditional pub then it has over 100 whiskies behind the bar from all over Scotland (good beer too) and barmen that wear kilts if that floats your boat! Also you're about ten minutes walk from Ashton Lane if you're around that area and it's a nice walk over the Gilmore Hill past the Glasgow University buildings.

Another great place for a drink is in the Merchant City in the City Centre, ]Arta has an amazing interior and is reasonable enough for a city centre pub. Other good places to drink in Merchant City are in the Merchant Square (just across the road from Arta), Blackfriars (good pub if you like ales and stuff like that), Bar 91, etc. There are lots of good restaurants in the area too, ]Babbity Bowster does traditional Scottish food, there are a couple of good indian places (North and South Indian) at the Dhabba and Dakhin restaurants. Also Pancho Villas is a nice Mexican place, all of these are within a couple of minutes walk from each other. Pubs like Blackfriars will have the Live Music pamphlet available (maybe ask behind the bar if you don't see it lying out) which will list all the live bands playing in the City each night.

If you want stuff to do during the day then you could always pop into the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Galleries in the West End or the Gallery of Modern Art in the City Centre, lots of other museums elsewhere and they're all free entry in Glasgow. If you're down near Merchant City then you could jump in a black cab and go along to ]West Brewing Company, they make all their beers to really high standard and you can actually see the area they make the beer when you walk in, good German Style food too.

As others have said you're a short drive to Loch Lomond and if you fancy visiting a Whisky Distillery tour then the ]Glengoyne Distillery is less than an hour outside the city.

Bier Halle on Gordon Street (just along from Central Station) is fantastic, tons of different beers, nice setting, I've spent many a night there...

pmsl i would avoid at all costs, even if you are drunk keep away from the blue dragon

theres not really that much to do in Glasgow. I find other cities with more things to do!

Anyway, there is the usual; cinemas, shopping centres etc. There are two main shopping centres, there is St. Enochs which has just been done up, and had a few extra shops added to including Hamleys! Its near Glasgow central train station, you can't miss it- its next to the bank of scotland.
There is the Buchanan mall (is this what its even called?!) its at the top of Buchanan street, trust me its a huge hill. Get the free bus from the train station pmsl!
Anyway places to eat, depends on what you like. I love going to Ichiban it has Japanese food. There is loads of chippys and takeaways all over Glasgow, there is nothing that special I can think of.
If you want to go out clubbing also depends on what music taste you like, there are tonnes of clubs and bars in Glasgow!

I wasn't keen either :giggle:

Duck Bay Marina is beautiful I love it. (Once saw Mel Gibson on the pier there.) Travel further up the same road to the Drovers Inn (www.thedroversinn.co.uk) it's a brilliant stop off for something to eat. Hope you enjoy your weekend in Glasgow.

Rubbed the bears nose and touched the sharks tooth lol. It's the best place, geese chasing you, manky, falling to bits, clatty kilts - but wharra place. LMAO It's and experience not to be missed. Last time I was there, the manager looked like the Scott's Porridge Oats Man LOL
