Not much to say. A typical budget build. Very lucky to have a friend giving you those parts for very cheap.

thanks for the feedback, yeah pretty sweet deal. WIFI is about 60 new and the power i googled is like 200?! is that right? gpu about 80?
i would recommend a micro atx case for a smaller form factor as it takes up less space on your desk

go for something a bit more reputable i’ve worked a handful of times with lesser known case brands and sometimes the build quality and headaches put me off

Kolink is the house brand of CaseKing.de. Europe's biggest components retailer (and owner of OcUK). Given that they started off as a case specialist as the name suggests I suspect they probably do a decent job of sourcing budget models.

Although I'd agree with you on the smaller case. Big cases aren't much fun to have around.

Probably a bit more than 80W for the RX 480, but 200W typical system power consumption doesn't sound too far off.

Not much point going for X570 with such a modest processor, it's definitely intended for the enthusiast processors.

not being a huge fan (im gonna get scorched by fanboys here ) of MSI I would defo gprefer Asus/gigabyte but the price of 570/550 boards is a bit much, can only see pci-e 4.0 as the main benefit over loads of bios settings you will probably never use..

What ports are you going to be using on it that the old one didn't have?

yeah so go with the original?
only thing my mate said is asus is better, and motherboards are pretty important so getting a decent one will only benefit me.
but im thinking its pointless lol.

nah i have to agree with your mate, i have the asus b450 in my ryzen build, very nice little board but it only cost me about £80 last year,
dunno wth is going on with 550/570 boards and how much they cost?
poop, just realised i settled on the aorus not the asus, got the b450 elite no pic-e 4 but it does do raid on the nvme slots! think the asus was about £30 more for same features and i am tight

so i should stick to the 570 asus, so confusing lol

depends on how much you want to spend, the one i got is still available at £90 most places, the difference would enable you to put two of the nvme drives in raid 0 which would destroy any pci-e4 nvme drive anyway and have £30 left over
Lilly1201/07/2020 12:03

It's not old and you're certainly not going to get more money selling it on than the extra you spend it on when new.

From the look of the specs there it has only one nvme-pcie slot whereas the Gigabyte aorus has two and is cheaper..

Oh brilliant thank you. Run my ryzen 5 3600 straight away without doing any updates? My biggest worry, don’t have a clue what I’m doing lol

it should do, the ryzen 3 has been out some time now, seem to remember mine bought last year was already up to the correct bios version to support r3, but you can always buy from elsewhere such as CCL and confirm with them it will before hand or even off ebay pre-fitted

you might then get one the discount codes working

do i need 2 pci slots for my GPU and wifi ?

the gpu will be pci-e, a most main boards have dropped pci now, don't confuse pci with pci-e(x1 x4 x16), if the wifi is pci might be spec replacing that into your costs

yeah the gpu is definitely pci-e x16, generally pci-e comes in variants as stated but most can be used in slot sizes above so a pci-e x1 can also be used in a x4, x8 and x16 slot as well as x1
