My kitten's tail got shut in the door, when the wind blew it closed :(

My poor little kitten went to follow me outside so i closed the door, the wind blew it open and she followed me out. I was taking my bins out and as i saw her and noticed the door closing i could'nt get too her in time and it closed on her tail. Now when she holds her tail up it seems to curl over at the end but she can hold it straight out behind her. What now?

I will do but i am not sure how much of an emergency it is, i was told by a friend that i should watch for swelling etc rather than stress her for a vet visit. Poor little baby

Id say theres a pretty good chance of it swelling, but it could be broken. animals cope very well in the vets (normally better than their owners!) and you would rather her 5 mins of stress than days or maybe weeks of pain!

my dog has a kink in her tail and she copes ok lol

Something like this happened to our cat, though she can be pretty ferrel so we kept a close eye on her and it's wonderful how nature fixed it. Yes, it's wonky and obviously was sore for a while but now, unless you stroked her all the way down her tail, you wouldn't necessarily know. Get her to a vets if you can, but if she's going to get majorly stressed and is on the ferrel side (ie rescue cat or farm cat type) then keep a close eye on it and maybe the problem will fix itself with lots of licking and some quiet time in a nice warm spot somewhere in your house.
Though, being a kitten, she'll mend in super fast time. Hope she feels better soon!!

    Ferrell?

    Ah, feral. lol :whistling:

yup dont worry at all we had a plate fall off the side and smash slicing open poor tiggers tale open looked like some sort of masacare blood all over the walls and curtains cos it wuldnt keep still, we called the vets and the vet said "would you go to the hospital if you cut open your finger" which was rather honest considoring the emergency fee alone just to get a consultation was £100 pounds then for any other treatments on top it would cost more.....so count your blessings if that door didnt draw blood and leave your home looking like the bates hotel.

yowch! like the others say, visit to the vet just to put your mind at ease. dont want her to suffer a broken tail ...

that said, my cat has a kink and a wobbly back leg from birth but she's fine, copes well like an acrobat! except for the occasional side hop
