My mother wants a scenery picture for the living room. Help? >_<

My mother wants me to use my imagination and get her a picture, only giving a vague description of what she wants - A scenery type picture. It's going on the living room wall and will need to be quite big.

Any ideas? I'm not good at shopping for this kinda stuff. ;__:

2 suggestions really - first: get down to your local auction house. You'l probably be able to pick up good quality original oils or watercolours for a fraction of a 'new' mass produced print and then reframe it if it is needed and the picture will have some character to it. Recently I bought a lot of late victorian and edwardian watercolours. I've taken the couple I want and the rest are going straight back in with a bit of luck covering my costs.
Second: if you are any good at photgraphy or have a really good local scene, get it printed onto canvas. Again it will have alot more character than anything mass produced.

Superb suggestion. Creating one yourself gives a much more personal feel as well. Get it printed at this place...

They are £60 or £75 (A3 or A2), so they are quite pricey. Although saying that, they are really fast and high quality and there may well be a voucher posted on here somewhere (if you can find it now!)

When she says "use your imagination" I bet she means she will be happy whatever you pick becuase you have picked it.
Don't make it too difficult, if you get desparate just go to NEXT online, free del at mo and they have nice large pics.

Ikea have some at good prices and the frames are sold seperate so you can match colours.

Look out for local art clubs, all year round. I've picked up some fantastic pictures over the years.
