Well, your warranty contract is with a company that no longer exists. Assuming that you have only a 12 month manufacturer warranty, I suspect the answer might be that you can do very little.

i've done that starsparkle sniff sniff

You will have to pay to get it repaired

Hi - this is my first reply on HDUK - apparently RICHER SOUNDS have taken over all warrenties from empire direct on electrical goods - Might be worth a call to them !!

thanks for replying sdsloopie, i did call them theres an answerphone message just saying they accept no respnsibilty for anything prior to when they took over

I would have thought the warranty might be underwritten by an insurer - check the details and, if so, take it up with them direct.
If you bought it with an extended warranty on a credit card, you could have recourse to them. They will deny but you have to keep pushing.
Lay a claim against the Liquidator - he'll only pay a proportion of the repair cost but the balance may well be recoverable from a credit card - best to let the card company know early though, and keep correspondence, as liquidations take ages - literally years in some cases.

If any work, some rep would be nice.

Sorry - heard it on the grapevine ... Typical that theres always a get out clause !!

I must be older than you - what the hell does looooool mean?

"Richer Sounds takes over Empire Direct website
    19 FEB 2009
Richer Sounds has bought the website of failed retailer Empire Direct from administrators KPMG.

The company says it is "inviting former Empire Direct customers to join its highly popular VIP club and is planning a package of benefits including assisting customers with the manufacturer’s warranty on most audio-visual products previously purchased from Empire Direct for all brands that Richer Sounds currently stocks.

"As a further gesture to previous Empire customers, Richer Sounds will also be giving a credit by way of Richer Sounds credit vouchers on any un-expired EdXtra membership fees paid. It has also set up a help page to assist former customers where this is possible.

"In addition, former Empire Direct customers will be entitled to special offers available to Richer Sounds VIP club members."

Yeah have just spoken to Richer sounds they said any warrantys taken out with empire direct are worthless, so no joy there

Did you pay by credit card? You would be able to hold them responsible if the item was over £100.
Your other course of action should be to get advice from the C.A.B. Fifteen months is not a very long time in the life of a TV, therefore Samsung could still be held responsible, this would require a claim through the courts.
Depending on the cost of the TV is it worth it?

This may or may not help...]http//ww…tee

The only thing is the retailer has gone bust in this case................. not sure if you can claim directly against the manufacturer.

^^^This.(It may have to be claimed through court, Manufacturer are in no way responsible).

If you paid by credit card, they are jointly and severally(sp) liable.

Are you certain? Do you have the paperwork.?
Was it a warranty or insurance? If insurance, I would expect it to be underwritten by someone else.
