Need a laptop in the budget of £460

I'm after a laptop that has moderate graphics i.e ati x700 or x1400 or if possible better. I can sacrifice on the other specs but Hdd at least 80gb. Thanks, any help is much appreciated.

Not seen anything new in that sort of price range, but you may be able to get second-hand or refurbished older single-core model for that sort of price. There are a few laptops about with GeForce 7300 and X600SE in that price range but I guess you are after gaming performance (see morgancomputers and laptopsdirect).

Thanks for the reply. I'm not too concerned about playing games maxed out, just a casual gamer you see. Yeah i dont mind refurbished either as long as there is some kind of warranty.

You might consider this one at £426.97, only thing I can see near your price

Not new but shown as FACTORY OUTLET CONDITION: A1 - As new, box opened

Has an ATI X700 and 12 Months Warranty

I'm sorry if this is ends up being a multiple post, but none of them seem to be registering.

Thanks for the find. Do you think the price is worth it taking all the specs into consideration?

Its a pretty dated CPU, but you really won't find too much else I reckon - gaming laptops (or those with X700/better graphics at least) tend to be more from the £600+ range. Don't expect much in the way of battery life, but other than that I reckon that laptops direct one is probably as good as you will get for the money. Its also only DDR (not DDR2) so it will cost a bit more to upgrade to 1GB ram.

I think i may hold out for something a bit better. The reason being is because about few weeks ago, i was thinking of purchasing the inspiron 6400:
    configure.euro.dell.com/del…ok1

and it had an upgrade graphics option from the GMA950 to the ati x1400 for just £40 extra. The cost totalling about £470. But that option is gone now :-( Thanks anyway guys.

Yep, I was looking to see if there were still any Dell's that could be upgraded - worth checking every Thurs for when MikeT posts any Dell deals to see if one reappears, although personally I'd recommend saving a bit more. As you will be spending so much (well, I think £450+ is a lot anyway!) I'd not settle for less than dual-core and 1GB of ram, regardless of other specs.

Anyone think this is good value for £499? To me it seems great at 28% off. A few people don't seem covinced by the processor ?

personally i would never go near a acer again after purchasing it for my aunties bday.. battery like is shocking and some programs mysteriously pop up when they feel like it! very annoying...

saying that i would stick to dells.. allways have bee reliable.. maybe speak to MikeT .. or wit until Thursday when next next offers are out!

sorry Hacksta I was only looking at the price
