need a new handheld vacuum

My old faithful black and decker dustbuster flexi is on its last legs. My gut feeling is to get the new 18v version as I've been very happy with it but also considering a Dyson or gtech multi. Has anybody got any recommendations? Mainly to be used on my awkward stairs which make lumbering a proper cleaner up and down problematic. Also possibly to clean the car if and when I get round to it. Must be able to pick up cat hair.

Psycho birch from hell

I recently bought the Black and Decker dustbuster 10.8v handheld. It was on an Amazon deal for £40. Its perfect for cleaning the car (especially dog hairs) and small jobs in the home!

Vote one for the black and decker. Cheapest option too

I bought the dyson v6 a few months ago and I really like it, it's lightweight and easy to use, it's cordless so ideal for doing the car/ stairs and I have a cat also, it picks up cat hair no problem.

The flexi doesn't come with the spinning brush any more, and that's my favourite bit. If it did I'd vote for a new flexi. With the Dyson you have to keep your finger on the button, which is awkward if using tools (I got one with free tools).

I still have the spinning brush and it works just fine. Do you know if it will fit the new model? If so that may swing it

Dyson DC59 Animal (refurb) often available from Dyson EBay store or Dyson Store for £129 when reduced . Mine appeared brand new and included all the tools etc including an extra motorised mini brush .

Much better than the Black and Decker and genuinely powerful (similar to a normal mains vac -so great for the car too ).

Don't worry that the DC29 is an older model , the workings - battery, motor and filter chamber - are exactly the same as the latest models (V6, V8 ) changes were purely cosmetic - suction hasn't increased with the newer models . If you can get a genuine refurbished one for £130 or less from Dyson definitely worth it .

Got the Dyson v6 absolute for my parents and they love it. Very good suction and very light.

I recently picked up a Hoover Freedom FD22G 22v - very impressed. I got it at £89.99 from Amazon a few weeks ago, which included their £10 off promo deal. Best price right now is £99.99 at Studio - studio.co.uk/sho…vac? Lots of reviews at Amazon and Argos.

I bought the new flexi with the additional floor tool. Much cheaper than the Dyson as there weren't any good deals on refurbs. The spinning brush fits the new model and I got 5% cash back on quidco . Its much lighter than my old one as the charging unit is separate. Am well pleased.
