    Need curtain advice

I've just bought some curtains (well, saying that I bought them 6 weeks ago and they've just arrived, damn you cdiscount) anyway... they turn up and I'm semi excited! I open them and only one side of the curtains are patterned, the other side is white.. IS THIS NORMAL?! Or did they run out of fabric ;O I'm a guy... never bought, looked at, or put up curtains in my life so I would have no idea... how do I put up curtains that are single sided? Won't they look a mess from outside? They wern't extremely cheap, £60 suppose to be £120 or something...

    thanks! =D

Are they lined ?, I've found in most cases curtains are plain on the back anyway. Have a look on a night when other people have theirs closed, think you will find they are all plain. I think I'm right in thinking this is normall and will look perfectly fine

I dont think ive ever had curtains that have been patterned on both sides, it wont look a mess from the outside and who cares even if it does you wont see it lol

    Yes that's normal!

All fabrics have a right side and a wrong side which isn't coloured, or lighter than the right side, if that makes sense, unless it is a really dark colour. It could also be the lining as previously mentioned. If they aren't already lined you can always add linings to them if you think they need them. Linings help them hang better too.

eep I hope so! they are lined yeah, my current curtains (from ikea) are coloured on both sides so I haven't had anything to compare with, I have some others that are also lined and plain on one side but they are of a similar colour as the patterned fabric side so you can't tell as much. But white just seemed a bit drastic! I'll have a nosey tonight as you say when people close them =D thanks

    how sweet you are!

yes curtains are usually plain on the back.

They are meant to look pretty for YOU on the inside.

No-one outside will give half a monkey's uncle what your curtains are like lol

do you iron them before you put them up or do the creases come out themselves? Lol sorry I have no idea

care label just has an iron on it with no temperature, says wash at 40.
    its made from:
    face: 65% Cotton 35% polyester
    lining: 50% cotton 50% polyester

what would be best to iron at?

    har har =P

I think i ordered the same curtains as you OP,are they the Harvard ones ?

If so they are lined, and its normal for the lining to be plain like that.

I didn't like them after i put them up tbh, they are a pain to iron and they don't hang right at all,the material is very "stiff"

Yeah they're the Harvard ones, I'll have to see what they look like when hung up, maybe the material will become softer after a while or something? =[

I hope you managed to get your curtains ironed!

1 pair up, another to go.. think I'll get a certain someone to do them tomorrow lol :whistling:

Other curtains i've had in the past i've had them a bit longer so they make a "puddle" on the floor, usually gives a nice effect, but i'm gutted i can't do it with these because of the stiffness of the fabric, they look crap.

    Are yours looking ok ?
