Ok, we've just decided we want to go camping this weekend somewhere near the coast.

Only trouble is that everywhere is either fully booked, or will only accept families or couples.

Can anyone suggest anywhere that might take us?

yep, silly i know. but we only need a couple of metres/sq to pitch a tent!

Most of us work weekends, and its the first weekend all summer we have had off. So we thought it would be good to get away somewhere. Shame that its the bank holiday weekend though

Good luck, hope you find somewhere x

so...according to the Ordinance Survey dudes.....the coastline length around mainland Great Britain is approx 11,072 miles.....

.....and you're telling me you cant find anywhere to pitch up a ******* tent?

Its not just where to pitch. There are lots of places you could pitch after dark and move on at the crack of sparrows (dawn). But if he wants to stay pitched for a couple of days he will need to go to an area prepared to ask and visit a number of places

Could you not book places for couples?

We were looking to go camping this weekend too (are a family), rang around loads about 3 weeks ago and they were all already fully booked, not hard to expect being bank holiday. We'd then arranged to camp in a family friend's field up North but now the weather report for North is pants.

So first of all I'd say that you've got a cat in hell chance of getting in anywhere, but if you still want to try then I would concentrate on the South/South East/East area.

Good Luck!!

buy a caravan and pitch in a tesco car park

I award you the 1st prize in most unhelpful, belittling, ***** of the year award. Congrats.

We drove to Barmouth quite late at night in the end, after foning around on the way there we couldn't get a single pitch for a tent as they were all fully booked and/or only for couples and families.

We just kipped in the car, then spent all day exploring the very nice town.

regarding the pitching in fields. A lot around there were full of cows and sheep, obviously some ones land, the ones that weren't would have had no access to cars. I also wanted to feel secure in where i stayed. I didn't fancy waking up to find an angry welsh farmer point a shotgun at our tent at sunrise.
