I was wonder if there was a way to connect this to my pc ??
In my PC i have a SoundBlaster Xtreme Fidelity Sound card with the front I/O Drive
http://i12.ebayimg.com/02/i/08/a7/bf/c3_1_b.JPG

So if anyone know how or if i can/can't use this with my pc pls let me know

Should be able to use the white and red connectors at the front, either that or use a 3.5mm Jack to Phono convertor to take it out the back of the PC

just get one to test. but before you go make sure you were outputting the correct speaker that was connected otherwise it might not sound as clear.. ie make sure the output is for your center speaker if your center seaker is the one you are testing

well i have all 5 speakers connected the the amp

you see that's where i personally get confused...

here is my mobo.. so i have a 3.5 jack for each speaker...
if you just used the headphone one would that mean that the amp decides which speaker gets which frequency?

is there an output for each speaker on your amp? if yes then get the phono to 3.5 jack and connect each on to the correct colour on the mobo. (read your manual for your mobo for correct colour...

check this out.. hardwaresecrets.com/art…8/6

You should be able to use the amplifier o tv cables that came with the system to connect the card to the amp.

Good news by the looks of it both your card and speakers have a SPDIF optical input/output. Should be able to connect them together and have real 5.1

OK i got the phono to 3.5mm lead and plugged that into the correct location on my sound card. It worked but only sound coming from 2 speakers. Then i saw on the remote a surround button so i pressed it. And what do you know....Everything is working like a dream.

Thanks for everyone's help. Rep will be added.

what do you mean ???

It's a digital connection that doesn't rely on the speakers to fake 5.1. Your card will actually send all the different channels down the 1 line and the speakers will send the channels to the correct speakers. So you get real 5.1

Original Poster

Ummm ok. Can you advise on how to connect it ?

Just to make sure do you have either of these connections?

I have Optical in/out on my PC and SPDIF in/out

Original Poster

the i/o drive has

1 x audio - line-in/microphone - phone stereo 6.25 mm
1 x headphones - output - phone stereo 6.25 mm
1 x audio - line-in - RCA x 2
1 x audio - SPDIF input - TOSLINK
1 x audio - SPDIF output - TOSLINK
1 x MIDI - input - 5 pin DIN
1 x MIDI - output - 5 pin DIN
1 x audio - SPDIF input - RCA
1 x audio - SPDIF output - RCA
1 x optical in
1 x optical out

The choice is yours on that case

Just buy a Optical TOS Link cable and plug it in. I got ]this one and seems fine

Original Poster

good idea but the amp doesnt have optical.....only my pc so i guess that option wont work

Sorry, I misunderstood you? Does it not have either of those inputs? read a review saying it did :-/

it does have a phono plug labeled coaxial input

I think the "Input-rear Digital audio input (coaxial x 1 – RCA-Orange)" is the SPDIF which you also have on your PC. All these cables make it very confusing lol

Original Poster

so if i get one of these cables
http://i15.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/e3/58/e01f_1.JPG

Will it give me true 5.1 sound ?

Yup
