Need to get a micro sim from EE/T-mobile

    Hi everyone,

Like many of you I received the Moto G 2nd gen as an xmas gift this year and couldn't have been happier.

However, my current phone is a galaxy s2 running on t-mobile which takes a full size sim, and the new moto G takes a micro sim.

I was just wondering what the easiest way of getting a new micro sim out of t-mobile is? I looked online and it says I can order one but for £10.20!!

    Thanks

Just get your current SIM chopped down. It can be done at an EE store or your local phone shop for free.

    EE stores do this?

I bought a sim cutter off eBay, 99p delivered, job done

I'd really like to get it done ASAP so a store option is preferable.

they shouldn't be charging you if they know you are transferring from tmobile to tmobile

I was in same boat, I just called we, said I had a new phone and needed different sim, and they sent one thru the next day (free)

I just spoke with them there, guy said he could order me one for £10.20 and then it'll be refunded to next bill. Or I could go into EE store, pay for the sim in store (if required) and then ring EE and they will again refund the cost to my next bill.

My only concern is activation time if I get a SIM from in store?

Hmmm not sure how good tmobile/ee are then, but I just walked into the voda shop and they popped a free sim in mine and transferred it all over within a couple of hrs.

I'll give EE another ring later, AL1S0N how long did your sim take to arrive?

    EE stores do this?

They should do. All they'd need to do is use a SIM cutter and chop it down to a Micro-SIM pretty standard and takes a few seconds. It's free too!

i had a sim and went into a 3 shop and they cut it down free of charge so you should have no probs getting EE to do it

T-Mobile charged me £10.20 with no refund for an iPhone sim, not only that then charged me twice and had to call to get the second charge refunded but said I had to pay the £10.20.

they don't refund the sim cost unless the sim is faulty.
it is best to go to an ee store. it can take anything from instant to 24 hours for the new sim to activate. you will also need to bring ID and you will need your password.

if you wait for it in the post, it takes 5 working days so ages but when it gets to you, it will have already been activated, which means that your current sim will be out of action for 5 days.

Think I will do this, thanks mate

Just cut it to size yourself..... I know it sounds like a scary prospect but actually it's dead easy.

Type it into YouTube, there's loads of "how to's"
I did it myself, fortunately I had a spare/old SIM that I was able to have a practice go on first which helped my confidence before taking the scissors to my own. But really it is easy.

You may as well try, if it fails then you go to the shop and pay £10.20, if it works you pay nothing.
If you don't try you pay £10.20.
I bought a payt sim from the poundshop, snapped the sim out, then drew around the inside of the holder and cut round the line when i needed to cut mine down

I did this as well just get a micro sim place on top of old sim and cut its very easy

It's easy to cut it. EE will not refund you the £10.20. They charge it for replacement or lost SIM cards.

Get a free micro sim and use it as a template as above. Worked for me :-)

I had the same problem. The nice people at 3 cut an EE one down to size for me (EE wanted £10 to do it).

    I now have 2 contracts with 3.....

Why can't they just leave all SIM Cards at the one size?, absolute PITA.

Go to a local phone shops they'll do it for free or maybe £1

When I order the replacement does that mean my existing one is deactivated until the new one arrives ?
