As a microsoft shareholder, buy from here:

Otherwise just buy the cheapest on ebay via paypal, most are MSDN keys so will work fine
eBay work well, there is the ethic question but depends on which side you fall on.
283979344688 Around £2.70 or 402362291321 £3.10.
I paid 99p 5 months ago, As could not be bothered to put win 7 on first and then upgrade for free ( due to SSD upgrade).
99p or extra 3 hours to install win 7.

14 sold in last hour, so might take a punt on the £3.10 one. Nothing to lose, and like you say, can't be bothered faffing with win 7 etc.
As far as I'm aware none of them can be trusted to source their keys entirely from legitimate sources. I haven't looked in depth at all of them but it's been shown to be the case across so many of those companies that I'd want full transparency of who has owned the key since it was originally bought before I'd trust any of them.

You haven't needed to do that for years, you can just put the Windows 7 (or 8 & 8.1) key into the Windows 10 installer these days.

I have a fresh built gaming rig and we put win 10 on it last night. My fiancee has a genuine 8.1 key, when we tried to activate windows 10 home with it it wouldn't activate win 10. Are we doing something wrong? Don't feel like wasting my Saturday faffing around so wanted to go the easy route.

I know, but the laptop is 10/12 years old and code is not stored. Did not know I could use Win 7 key. It was only 99p and took 5 mins to order, get delivered and activated on laptop.

Is the key for Home or Pro.
That could be the issue.

It was Win 8.1 Home.
I bought my key from software geeks the pro edition is going for £20 theunitysoft.com/pro…ws/
I think I paid £5 for my pro key and it’s working fine, if it gets banned orfails, I’ll just buy another

It was Win 8.1 Home.

The edition has to match, so win 8.1 home will activate Windows 10 home, Windows 8.1 pro will activate Windows 10 pro.

Have you got a key now?

Yeah, went for the £3.10 one on eBay as recommended earlier. Worked first time. I reinstalled Pro instead of Home and bought the Pro key.
Can someone please point me towards a vendor on eBay that is a legit seller for this as there are so many?
