New 16-17 Saver railcard to give 50% off rail travel

The 16-17 Saver will go on sale on 20 August 2019. It's valid across England, Wales and services into Scotland, but not on ScotRail or Caledonian Sleeper services.

Holders of a 16-17 Saver will be able to buy discounted tickets for travel from 2 September 2019.

Customers will be offered the 16-17 Saver as either a digital product on their phone or a physical card that will be posted to them.

It's not possible to have both, this is in line with other discount products.

Spending £30 I would think a 16-25 railcard to be more beneficial .
I think everyone needs one of these not just 16 - 17 year olds based on the ridiculous price hikes!
A 16-25 railcard gives 1/3 off tickets and is subject to a minimum fare before 0930 mon-fri except July & Aug.

Not if you're 16 or 17 I stumbled on this whilst looking for cheapest rail travel to college/apprenticeship location for my kids

They're both only valid for a year, so the obvious choice is the one that gives you 50% off not 33.3% off.
