New car and Insurance increase 18yr old

Coming august my new claim bonus of 1yr will kick in after one successful year of not crashing my 51reg 1Litre Toyato Yaris. When I passed last year my insurance was £1500 reapectivily with Quim.
This year I need a slight Bigger car and engine to travel to uni. 1.2-1.4 is needed. I have been scouting around and could you guys recommend me a car under £5k. However to renew my insurance is more expensive this year than last with my no claim bonus. Im trying to get a cheaper price but as of yet I've had no success. This compare the monkey websites are quoting me £2000-3000 with a 1litre yaris. WTF would I do with a 1litre? GO RACING FOR PETE's sake
What I'm askin is what car should I get, good mpg is essential. I like Yaris's but are hard to buy private for the 2006 shape and like the bigger fiesta. Also is there any decent sites for cheap insurance for 18yr olds. I feel ripped off ATM

Insurance has gone up in general this year I have a 7 seater Shuttle with 30 yrs no claims (full no claims never had an accident) it was £250 last year £360 this and I went to all the go compare sites

Try Admiral they were good for my daughter

You don't need a bigger engined car, a 1 litre will take you anywhere you want to go.

Our insurance went up this year, couldnt find anywhere cheaper

There is a big difference between " need " and " want "..(_;)

Toyota Yaris is a great car, very reliable, think carefully before changing it.

ive got a job and have been saving wisely for a year and got EMA while in college

Try a clio, if you get a 1.2litre "turbo", it drives like a 1.4 but is only classed as a 1.2 for insurance purposes. Reliable cars, I've had 2 and never had a problem with them.

Try direct line for insurance, I found them to be cheapest when I started driving.

But - at 18 years old and only 1 year no claims, insurance will still be very expensive. It tends to come down when you're in your 20's and have a few more years driving experience, not alot you can do about it!!

Cheers for the advice. I dont mind about expensive insurance its just that its more expensive than last year when i was born to crash, at least know i have 1yr experience and was hoping to be a little cheaper
