Don't forget though - it's not about enforcing the licence fee – it’s about giving you a better BBC!

That' right, because they will have a greater revenue to spend on it

just enough details for them to start court action, how convenient.

What details will it ask for? Article didn't really say from what i could see..

What's to stop you using fake details for a fake address.. How could they validate your correct as they won't be asking for payment details.

So they would do this rather than block anyone without a licence number?

What's to stop the sharing of licence number details with that set up? At least emails are individual user focused and not tied to a household.

They will probably ask you to state your TV licence ref number for a start.

Great news. So now you can tell the grubby little urchin at the front door you don't watch live TV and you don't use their crapppy online output either.
Very tempted to ditch live TV and the fee now after paying for their rubbish for 20odd years now like a good honest little citizen ( mug )

Evil and nasty corporation which is corrupt and a bully to its very heart. A government propganda mouthpiece and supporter of war.

WE DON'T WANT YOUR PRODUCTS AND WE DON'T WANT YOU. Those who do can subscribe like Sky etc.

Good. Won't stop the threatening letters though, will it?

*waits for another generation of smart TVs to fall over and die, because they can't handle a new version of the iplayer*

Amazon prime is a better deal for me,not watched live tv or iplayer for nearly 4 years and not paid a licence for 3 1/2 years, not mithered for 2 years.

Seriously though, what's to stop people just in putting fake details. Love it how they say information won't be used to track people who are using the service without paying.. Yeah right lol

A vpn would be able to circumvent this anyway. So long as you register with fake details.

They say they won't be using isps to see users but who believes that.

    Yet another "get_iplayer" update.

    (Sigh).

I don't get all the fuss. Yes the BBC is universally hated. However registering your details with a website service is pretty standard these days. So this isn't really new is it? Netflix still requires a login, as does Now TV, Sky, Prime Video, etc.

All those are paid for services.

Last I checked I paid a TV licence. The Beeb already have my details. So why not use them to register for a service they offer? What do I lose and they gain?
Ignoring its all poor value for money and I have little choice. Especially as my kids love CBeebies.

its okay because people will still put bbc tv shows on torrents etc
