New dualshock 4 controller has no sound on Earphones

So I bought a brand new version 2 dualshock 4 controller a couple months ago but just used it today for the first time.

I'm not getting any sound through my earphones. I made sure to change settings and output all audio to headphones but I get no sound. The ps4 recognises the headphones but no sound at all.

I tried using same headphones with another dualshock 4 and it works fine so it is definitely not the headphones. Anybody else have this issue?

I had this, all I could get was the "chat" through them. Never solved it!

Obvious question but have you got the volume turned all the way up?

There has got to be a fix surely. I use my headphones all the time. This is a brand new controller also.

OK just got it to work. Had to turn off ps4 and turn it back on.

i had this on the v1 model try push the audio pin into the port much more forcefully it should work.

The V2 are lame, prefer the V1 myself. L2 R2 says it all.
