New graphics card for old build (with plans to upgrade in future)

Posted 31st Dec 2019
I'm in the market for a new GPU as struggling to play certain games on anything other than low settings these days. In particular X-Com 2 WOTC, it runs smoothly on low settings but go any higher and the frame rate drops massively and it's near on impossible to play.

I want to buy a new GPU which will see me through several years like my current one has but I was hoping to use the new card in my next upgrade to my MB and CPU also.

My current setup:
MB - Asus P8Z77-m
CPU - overclocked Intel i5 3570K
RAM - Corsair 2x4GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance
PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 750W PC - Gold rated
Cooling - Noctua NH-D14

The card I'm looking to replace is an Asus AMD Radeon HD 7850 DirectCU II 2GB

Basically I want to buy a card that I can house in this MB until I upgrade the board to a Ryzen supporting MB in the future.

I have a full size case so size of the card won't be an issue. I don't have a 4k monitor but will do in the future.

Looking to spend between up to £300, I don't plan on playing any AAA games, only use my PC for RTS and space sim type games, I don't have a clue really what to aim for so looking for a bit of advice please.

Exact budget picking:…PW5
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 OC - £298.99

Cheaper, save money for other components:…TNX
EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER SC ULTRA BLACK GAMING, 06G-P4-1066-KR, 6GB GDDR6, Dual Fan, Metal Backplate - £216.99

If you can find on sale because performance is better:…art MSI Radeon RX 5700 MECH OC 8 GB GDDR6 - £330.53

If running 4K, i'd probably choose RTX 2060 or RX 5700.
Thanks for those, will take a look
