Hi
Got a new Samsung N220 netbook yesterday. Installed everything and seems to be working well. Installed iplayer and a program called adobe air which it said i would need.
Because we have poor broadband connection very slow i downloaded a program yesterday rather than stream it which is usually jerky,
Download seemed to work but when i wanted to watch the program last night i got one or two frames of video and then it just seemed to freeze and jump. It is completely unwatchable. The audio seems to work fine though.
I am using Windows 7 starter on the netbook. Does anyone have any ideas. I have looked on iplayer help but cant find anything. Thank you.

Did you download the high definition video instead of the standard definition video?

It was the HD but this machine is supposed to have something called a Broadcom HD decoder so I presumed it would take it. Should i try the normal way.
The machine even comes with a few small videos of how good the HD is....

Try the normal files via http, they aren't so bad

Thanks will do that. HD isnt that important to me anyway I just want to watch a program. Than you for your help. Rep given.

1st of all I'd try downloading the standard definition version but if the problem persists it's more than likely to be your broadband that's causing the problem:thinking:

broadband wouldnt affect a downloaded video. I would say the netbook isnt up to the job of playing HD.

Which version of flash do you have? Make sure you install ]flash player 10.1

You need to check the serial as some have the broadcom decoder on the mobo and some are just using the Intel's standard GMA 3150 which isn't able to playback HD media. The models that included it are NP-N220-JMD1UK, and NP-N220-JMD2UK.

So to playback BBC iplayer HD on it you will require Adobe air 1.5 or above and Adobe 10.1 or above. I would also check to see if you have the latest Broadcom drivers for the chipset (BCM70015)

I have checked and it is the JMD1UK so it should be OK. I am going to download the standard and see that it plays Ok and go from there. I will check the drivers and relevant versions you have metioned. Many thanks for such a thorough answer.
