What's the difference between the flesh light and pro versions?

Really poor spec unfortunately, 3gb ram in 2019 is terrible, it's the same as the original 2015 shield TV and less than some budget smartphones! Doesn't even compare well to the now old PS4/Xbox one with 8gb not to mention impending next generation.

I know it's primarily a media consumption device, but the cool thing about the original shield TV is that it was a remarkably powerful Android box and offered processing power way over smartphones and tablets and even approached home consoles but in a much smaller box.

Considering four years on Nvidia are selling practically the same spec as their 2015 shield TV and no cheaper I'm pretty disappointed...

Although previous gen remote sucks but I'll keep my shield for one more year. Heat added
That’s not the “Pro” thats the “TV”, if you’re going to pay that much you might as well get the Pro
Nvidia Shield Pro = £199

yep, will buy the pro version for extra £50.

Why is there no 500gb version? don't they want more of my money?

And WHY is the remote triangular, what were they thinking????

Maybe i'm wrong but it looks like 1gb RAM and 8gb Storage, seems not much for an extra £75
Edit: 2x usb ports also

Plex media server too Evo
Hope the remote is massively improved. Nvidia is one of the best gadget purchases ever (along with my synology) but the crapy remote 😡. Coming to a stage now that I just want to break it.

Trying to RMA anything back to nvidia is a nightmare! I'd personally avoid at all costs

You can use app instead of remote but after last updates is not perfect as well.
Absolutely no need to buy this. Just get a 2nd hand first generation from CEX. It’s still overpowered for what you need. I can stream 4K hdr files with no issues whatsoever.

Over priced junk just like iSheep
So, now remains to be seen whether the Netfix app on the old Shield gets Dolby Atmos (which of course is MORE than capable of delivering this) - no technical reason whatsoever not to now they obviously have the app running with Atmos on the new one.

Oh, and frame rate switching so that 24p content isnt a stuttering mess (although my TV is 120hz so that does fudge it fairly okish). Yet to hear if they've actaully managed this simple thing on the new Shield...

I think I'll wait for black Friday. I reckon they will each come down 50 quid
why is this 'hot'? honest question. i thought that this was the RRP

Some people want it for more than TV, like emulation, something it’s very good at and the more power the better

Flesh lights are clearly just campaign mode, you need a.... friend for multiplayer

Would have to agree, whilst the new "TV" seems decent as a smaller dongle, the Pro should've pushed the boat out a bit more, plus 16GB storage is pitiful by today's standards. Yes, of course you can add an SD card etc but it's never as good as internal memory for installing games etc.

Still the best unit on the market when you take into account the support in terms of updates. Hopefully Black Friday will make the price more palatable.

For me, streaming Dolby Atmos & Dolby vision on a streaming box that supports a lot of different services and an ethernet port is worth the extra over the original. Plus the ai 4k upscaling with the integrated GPU sounds interesting. Oh and the new remote apparently is is really good according to many people on Reddit, who have had the device for over a week due to early sales in the states.
Do you think they will offer a controller with this at some point, or any recommendations for a games controller. Thank you in advance.
WiFi in my TV is crapping out too regularly so I was thinking of getting one of these. The apps themselves work fine but buffering occurs too often and only on that TV.

£150-200 seems excessive though vs something like the Mi Box S which does very similar with same RAM as this new stick at half the price...

It's only for my spare TV so no need for Atmos / Dolby Vision. But I feel like if you have a TV that supports Atmos / Vision the app performance and capabilities of that TV would be pretty solid anyway.

Maybe people are confusing the new product names with the old one?

Old 'pro' had 512GB storage, new 'pro' doesnt.
Isn't this retail price, where's the deal

Get a 4K firestick for a fraction of the price, you also get all the UK on demand apps unlike on the Shield (4OD missing)

Which are still very expensive for used.

Old box could passthrough Atmos on Netflix if they updated the app.
Because they haven’t u would need the new Shield to decode it itself and output it.
£200 to get Atmos on Netflix, i am tempted though

They have to pay for the licensing, which they have done for the new versions and have no financial incentive to do for the old.

Just what I said lol. I know this. I use Atmos on Kodi. Hence why I'm thinking aloud whether the Netflix app will now be updated on the old Shields to save me turning on the Xbox One every time I remember a show is in Atmos.

Not sure they have to do it for Atmos. The box already outputs in Atmos (see Amazon Prime, and Kodi)

Dolby Vision, yes, but as I have a Samsung TV then this doesn't bother me.
