Hi,

I just got my ps3 last week and I'm having problems setting up a wireless connection with my router. It can see the router but when trying to set up it always time out..

I've also read in some sites that there are other people with the same problem as me..

Any Tips what I should do?? should I restore factory settings then try to set it up again??(I didn't set up wireless connection at the first time)

EDIT: Ok, I tried restore default settings but when I entered the wep key manually, I got an error code: 80130128, then the 2nd time I tried I scanned my connection then it says connection timed out again.. :((

Thanks!

well, ive tried wired but would much prefer if its wireless cos the ps3 is upstairs :l

Do you have a firewall that is blocking the PS3 from accessing the router or do you use MAC filtering on your router control panel, if you do have you added the PS3 MAC address to be allowed access?

try wireless when your ps3 is near the router

I suspect the dropouts are because there are too many walls between router and ps3

When you log into the router settings you may have a setting for MAC address filtering, if this is selected then only laptops/computers/PS3/DSL etc with their MAC address listed will be able to acces the internet via your router.

It's another form of security in that even if you didn't have WEP set up the only computers able to access the internet via your router are the ones with thier MAC address listed.

TBH It's probably not that if your not sure what it is, as you would have needed to set it up that way as it wouldn't have been set as standard when you installed the router.

Have you installed a firewall on your pc? It could be that stopping the PS3 connecting.

I would try moving the PS3 into the same room as the router if you've got a small tv you could try & connect it on to see if it's working next to the router, it may be as csiman said & too far away to get a good connection. If that doesn't make any difference then it's probably something to do with security settings on your pc/router stopping it from connecting.
