    NEW TV HELP

Have decided to treat myself to new TV set up after the queries here...

    hotukdeals.com/mis…ost

I am after a 40inch TV similar to the Samsung here

    johnlewis.com/230…0J1

Don't ever use TV for games etc. Not bothered about 3D. This TV has all I want but before I jump in, shop told me can acess internet on this via laptop if I buy a Samsung bit for £50. But it says the TV is not web enabled..........I am confused. Would love to access internet on the TV. Do I definitely need web enabled then? This TV is not web enabled, (see why I am confused, Google not specific and takes me into a techy world of jargon!!)

Next query is that I will still need an additional box in order to record progs (HD recorder). Would it be better just to go for HD "ready" TV, then get HD freeview box and recorder. Would that work out any cheaper do you reckon??

    Appreciate any help guys

Just spoke to John Lewis. I was given duff advice earlier. The Samsung I mentioned is not web enabled, therefore cannot plug in a dongle to access internet. Apparently has to be a web enabled TV in order to access internet............Back to starting block.

Would prefer to get good deal via John Lewis (for the sake a few quid extra), 'cause 5 yr guarantee.

Ok, find the LE40C580 i think it is, and click on used - the 2nd one down

Definitely worth it. The HDMI ports broke on my Samsung within 4 months, so I'm sure there'll be atleast one more problem within the next 5 years. Also, you don't have the fuss of sending it back to Samsung because JL just sent people out to repair it for you.

Bought the next one up, for the internet access. Sorted. Comes Friday.

Plus the guarantee that if the price drops at John Lewis, or anywhere else in the next 28 days, they will refund me. No point until waiting until the sales.

OMG.....yipeee, real Xmas pressie. Paid John Lewis £649 for the TV (no cheaper anywhere else).
Collected it today, not out of box yet.

Checking an order for Argos, saw my TV and Argos have just reduced the price to £499.

Means I will get £149 back off John Lewis, Superb. Argos link......
